do you know how hard it is to truly increase a processor's performance (other than overclocking)?
over 90% of the processor is trying to predict what the next calculations may be and only about 5% actually calculate. This is because processors bottleneck HARD on memory. Going with higher power efficiency leads to lower temperatures and therefore higher safe overclocks. Maybe a change away from x86 will improve performance significantly, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
