What should i do with it?
>>54746252
Uhh, I have mine in a computer. It's not good for much else.
>>54746252
>amd
throw it in the trash
>>54746265
get a trip so i can filter you
>>54746275
yes
>>54746252
Is there any gold in it?
>>54746252
SEE HOW FAST IT COULD ADD 2+2!
>>54746265
Fastest Intel Socket 7 CPU: 233 MHz
Fastest AMD Socket 7 CPU: 550 MHz

>Not remembering how the K6 matched the Pentium 3 for much less
o shit i forgot your a newfag
>>54746284
yea all old cpus have gold pins
I've been tempted to try to get some SEM time to get some images of mine just to have. Takes some work to open it up though.
tfw i played max payne 1 in low setings in my first pc Compaq with a AMD 550Mhz 128 ram and nvidia tnt2 32Mb
K6 bro
Nitrogen cooling and overclock it to the moon
>>54746295
It totally didn't, it was inbetween the pentium 1 and pentium 2.
P2 had half CPU speed cache and K6 still used L2 cache on the motherboard, it got btfo and by the time k6-3 came out with on die L2 it was already over.
Athlons matched and surpassed P3s.

>athlons matched and surpassed P3s
athlons are still on par with current gen fucking intel chips you dumbass, of course they matched P3s
>>54746252
Building something with it unless you have more old hardware laying around isn't very economical.
You can pick up CPU collecting, there's a lot of fascinating engineering and history in those little squares, they look cool and they're easy as fuck to store.
>>54746294
No shit, Intel ditched Socket 7 for slotted designs while AMD kept on going.
>>54746295
Maybe in integer tasks, but not for much else. The K6-2 was the darling in the low-end and home markets because it was a more fiscally responsible choice, not a faster choice. Intel floating point units could run circles around anything AMD turned out, and the slot design, as clunky and annoying as it was, allowed for caches running quite a bit faster than bus-hobbled motherboard mounted caches, even the super 7 models.
They were in no way a bad chip (depending on which one you used) despite all this, but /g/'s nostalgic AMD worship goes a little heavy on the rose tint.

Where the hell are you getting that from? The last "true" Athlons may not be total slugs but they are nonetheless absolutely ancient, and can barely hold a candle to newer low-end mobile chips anymore.
