I think these issues are way overstated.
Most Windows users just go thru the update and use windows 10. There's very little practical, apparent difference in windows 10 that typical users will notice.
Most folks at home and at work really don't give that much of a shit.
If privacy is your concern go for linux for personal computing.
If you prioritize reasonable versatility and industrial strength programs with a lower learning-curve, go for Windows.
