/g/ need a good basic cheap video camera
Needs enough detail to see faces from across a classroom, what do you recommend?

Also what do I need to know? i.e basics about video cameras

Just remember that you'll need something with a sturdy frame for when your victims fight back

These kids here can't provide input on something like this. They think tech is fucking linux..a fucking language. Actual technology hardware baffles most it seems.

I have a Sony Handycam..does good and was pretty cheap. looks exactly as that Vivitar in your pic. Just figure your budget out and go from there..you willonly have a few viable choices to pic from that meet your criteria.

My budget is around £20-40

bit slow mate, OP already posted their budget

Sony AX-53: decent stabilization, pretty good sensor, 4k recording ant 100mbps.

you want the /p/ video general

if you don't have a smartphone with video capabilities, you are fucked for 20-40 pounds.

get a fucking job retard

Doing research for a degree, £20-40 is alot to spend on soemthing I'm only going to use a handful of times
>>
>>54707126
Okay, I'll check there

But 20-40 isn't reasonable for recording something literally a half a rooms distance away?
>>
>>54707302

depends on the room. if its a small room with a LOT of light (im talking a wall of windows on a sunny day), you could probably find a cheap chinese gopro ripoff for your budget, and it won't look good even then.

Doesn't really need to look good. I'll be using it for research, literally just need to see basic facial expressions anything else is a bonus

well, you might be able to find something. Sub 200 is a no man's land though, very little information to give you, so you must be an amazon.com pioneer and find one for your specific needs.

Pretty much any camera from a reputable name should do. If you're hoping to get audio, find one with an external mic input because the built in one will sound like shit, especially in a classroom.

Buy a crowbar and break into a cinematographer's car.

you only get shit with that and that only if you buy used.

Start looking at 100 and you might get something thats ok. If you are lucky you can get used stuff for cheap on ebay.

Sony Handycams are generally agreed to be the best ever.
Also good are Panasonic and Canon. Samsung is shit.

Avoid camcorders that use buttos for zooming in and out.

Camcorders tend to have a narrow field of view. So they might not be very good for indoor use. If you arent going to record a ton, any compact camera will do. Get a small Canon Ixus Senpai, you can actually take decent pictures with it too.

I realise I should have put this in the original post, but I'm only going to use it a handful of times to record a class, it doesn't need to be great
