It's not a meme you can(should) use a Linux distro as your main OS.
It's 2016 Ubuntu has developed to be a desktop os and you cannot deny it.

I have made the change from Windows to ubuntu recently. I only miss Visual Studio but I run it inside a Win7 virtual machine.

Gaymen are also able to survive now. If you have the hardware you could even do VGA passthrough.

Pic related. Full normie. Only use ncore.cc as my private tracker.

How seamless is the hardware pass through virtualization anyways? Can I have Ubuntu running on one monitor and Windows guest on another? Can the guest run in a window like Virtualbox? Finally, can I use my iGPU for desktop acceleration on Ubuntu while my guest uses the NVIDIA card?

How would Ubuntu work on my system

Dell Optiplex 7010

I still want to be able to play a few games like Civ5, and Fallout 4.

Software that I use

Steam
Skype
Chrome

Only reason why I havent switched to Linux is because I don't want to lose the ability to get any piece of software that I want.

I can use adobe cs5 master collection perfectly through a virtual machine, but

My GPU is also shit on linux. So initially I was like "hey, if I lose games whatever, it's not like I play more than shitty emulator games and those work on linux". Issue is, I have a GCN 1.0 AMD GPU. So even on desktop I'm going to suffer.

Linux is a pain in teh fucking ass. If all you do is run a really simple, extremely common hardware configuration then it's *livable*. Otherwise, it's a nightmare. If that's the way things are going to be, then I'd just as soon run Mac OS.
