To debunk your low thoughts. Li-ion technology suffers from overcharging more than nimh. There are metalic bridges created and it lose capacity this way. Best for li-ion is about 50%of its charge for long storage. This effect is well known for both manufacturers, battery and charger (e.g.cellphone) so thats why your status led lights green from 90% above and then charging rappidly slows down.
