What is a DAW?
Digital
Audio
Workstation

>What DAW is yours?

>How long you been on it?

>How long have you been into music?

>What genre do you play with the most?

>What Genre do you think you are best at?

>Have you thought about changing up to something else?

>What's your favorite synth, no matter how dumb it is?

>Do you see yourself doing this way later on even if you get no where?

>Advice? or need advice?

Bonus points:

>Coffee who makes the best?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>this is /g/ not /mu/ gtfo

We do not talk about the music as it is but how it's created and what we use and how to help
others get better

1 simple rule I hope you can guys do, please don't be assholes to those who
have a different perspective on another DAW, no matter what it is or how shitty
it is. I know there are some very laughable ones out there but ya know...
So please just be as helpful as you can.

DAW general? Nice idea, let's do this. Tripfag because I was told to, don't judge.

>What DAW is yours?
Formerly FL Studio, since moved to Ardour. Open source and Linux, my style.

>How long have you been into music?
Unsurprisingly, as long as I remember.

>What genre do you play with the most?
Tricky.
I learn the EDM and house styles/techniques and that's largely what I'm trying to emulate with my songs. However, I didn't start learning digital music to be a DJ, I did so because I wanted to be a songwriter. I don't want to make drops, I want to write hooks. I like the way Deadmau5 and Calvin Harris, for instance, have that beautiful house sound, but have a form and structure that's very close to traditional/contemporary songwriting. tl'dr, electro/progressive house.

>What Genre do you think you are best at?
Folk/rock. No kidding, I'm trying to make vocal house/edm and I'm struggling to keep to the genre, as above. My lyrics often come off as too folky.

>Have you thought about changing up to something else?
I'm still not 100% sure on house music.

>What's your favorite synth, no matter how dumb it is?
I love Native Instruments' Massive. Unfortunately, that's not on linux. I also love Calf Organ and Helm synth, which I use on Linux

>Do you see yourself doing this way later on even if you get no where?
If not for the money and the appreciation, at least for the booty. Girls love a song writer (I've heard).

>Advice? or need advice?
I'm a singer with a low range, deep voice (literally a basso profondo in classical terms), what genre/style would I best be suited for?

I use Maschine Studio by NI, using mostly NI plugins. Though I have plenty of analogue gear.

About 2 years using Studio, been using the original Maschine software for 4.

Been making electronic music for 7 years.

Play most with trip-hop, though did a lot of house and DnB stuff last year. I have a pretty retro sound.

Best genre is probably trip-hop and i'm pretty decent with dub-house.

I experiment all the time with new hardware and software but can't see myself permanantly switching DAWs for a while.

Favourite synth is my Korg MS-20, first synth I ever learnt to play.

I will no doubt do this as long as i'm alive.

My best advice for any rookies would be to just experiment and develope a unique sound as early as possible. Too many people make the mistake of trying to be versatile and it's better to master one thing than to be alright at a bunch of things.

I own a coffee machine but the best beans I can find locally are by Elixer.
