Working with cars is a proper pain in the ass. New cars because there is absolutely no space and even the simplest tasks require shitloads of work. Old cars because everything is stuck and finding parts can be difficult.

Not to even mention how fucking expensive having cars as a hobby is.
>>
going to a racetrack is pricey and unless you live in britain you will have to do a pretty long drive before reaching the track. If I had a track close to my home I would buy a cheap race car when I get a decent job.

>>
>>54688371
Because trying to learn about cars yourself by tinkering with shit can result in extremely expensive parts being destroyed or severe injury. This is why people learn about cars from family and friends.

While they are similar in concept, they are very different interests when it comes to how one learns about them.
>>
Spend $2000/year on a hobby car: you're a poorfag

Spend $2000/year on computers: you get high end stuff every year

Yeah many things are the 'same concept' while being totally different in real life.

Internal combustion engines are old technology and manufacturers are making them more difficult to service. I wouldn't want to be a mechanic because I don't like gas cars.

Electric cars are cool though. I've wanted to convert an old Jeep to electric for a while now, just haven't got around to it.

Because everyone here is a fat sweaty nerd. I went to school for it, then got a job as a mechanic, and started fixing my beater at 15. I've also owned a gaming PC for my entire life. And consoles. So I've always liked high performance computing. But Jesus man. Taking a 330hp 928s4 through switchbacks. Man there's nothing more exciting than speed. same concept sure but cars cost waaay more and arent nearly as easy as building computers. unless you are talking about coding which wouldnt be anything like modding cars. dont get me wrong I'm into both but this thread is full retard. also you cant just google how to mod/fix/repair cars so that cuts out pretty much every millennial from this hobby.
>>
>>54699082
Well I mean you're car should be properly setup for high speeds. For instance, when I did my final top speed run in my 928. I got z rated tires, that were good for at least 10 minutes at 200mph, had them balanced within a gram of each other. I had new shocks put on and a custom alignment with a very slight degree of negative camber. And new brake pads. Hit 188 before I ran out of gas.
>>
>>54699065
how does it work on shit caked grease. those little rocks in gojo really work well for that shit.
>>
>>54699172
Works well, there's also some kind of gravel shit in it. I'd pretty much only used gojo before trying it out at a friend's place, it was mindblowing.
>>
>>54699099
Although I will say this. They do take feedback from mechanics. And sometimes re engineer things based on that feed back. Especially with parts that aren't functioning at an optimum level or are not as durable as they should be.
