Hi guys, I'm taking a look at the 4k monitors. I really enjoy the 220 PPI of the macbook pro (middle 2015 models) and I was wondering which size is the best for a 3840x2160.
If I'm going to buy a monitor with these specs I think I'm going to buy a DELL, someone got it? Any impression? To me it seems the best option (I need it to use Adobe programs and also for gaming) the other one I think it can be good is the Samsung U28E590D but it has the matt finitiure (I prefer glossy) and it seems to be less birght. Let me know what you think about it!
PS: here the PPI comparison between the two dimensions: http://imgur.com/WXxe3DR
here the DELL monitor with 4k (27'' the 25'' version is no longer avaiable on DELL site): http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&sku=210-ADOF
here a new DELL model I discovered right now: http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&sku=210-AHIQ

What a fucking retarded picture. You can see the one on the left literally lose details when it zooms in.
Are you going to waste the extra pixels by doubling the size of everything? I'm using a 55" 4k display. All the extra space is great though I actually have changed my mind about curved screens being a meme. They're actually useful on screens that large.

This is true. If you want good ppi for 27" you need 5k.

The whole point of having good ppi is so that text rendering is perfect. Nothing wrong with making it a little bigger, just go with what looks best and is easiest on the eyes.

Are you saying that is enough to zoom a bit on a 27'' screen to have anyway a good text rendering?

5k is basically the bare minimum for 'retina' ppi on a 27" screen. That is why the 27" retina iMac's use 5k and not 4k. Anything less and you will see pixels.

Okay then should I go for a 25''?
>>54686327
I mean..
25'' * 4k= "retina"?
>>54686461
Well even 24" 4k is only about 180ppi. You probably want something a little closer to 200ppi or 220ppi for a monitor, but it is still substantially better than monitors of olde. The bigger you get while staying at 4k, the worse it will look.

I like how you can barely see the controls on the 4k versions.
It would next to impossible to actually use the application at that resolution.

Yea, Windows has really shitty hidpi support
