Did you just recently change over to that case? I remember seeing a build with the same board, tubing, liquid, fittings, and RAM. If so, I like this much more.
>>
>>54684676
I just finished (kind of... Will be replacing tubing soon and I dislike a few of the runs) this build yesterday.

You may be thinking of somebody else
>>
>>54684696
Well, either way, I enjoy it quite a bit.

Seeing as that's an EK block, is your pump feeding the outlet side of the CPU block? It won't make a huge difference, but, unlike GPU blocks, EK recommends going into a specific inlet on the CPU block. Also, the only run I'm not fond of is where it goes from the CPU to the radiator. And what's up with the red all around the spot on the tubing from the radiator back to the reservoir?

Progress report from yesterday's shitpost

Look how the x1predator looks decent and clean without the crappy logos and the eye-cancer panel!

I will take these black metal parts in my desk and mold them into something that covers the hole on the top perfectly while also glueing the power button underneath it and the usb 3.0 ports as well.

I WILL TURN THIS RETARDED LOOKING BEAST INTO A FINE GENTLEMAN.
>>
>>54684734
It is feeding it into the out side, just thought it was more appealing that way, temps seem about the same as the other way around from past experience.

As for the red, thats an area I had a small leak when leak testing and since this tubing was 1/2" and not 12mm, I had to sand it down to fit so it stained that section.
>>
>>54684827
I see.

Can anyone share with me a basic mini-itx or micro-itx build?
My dad is looking into something he can put in a laptop bag or a small pelican case, hes really tired of his aging latitude his company gave him to use for work.

He needs at least 8gb of ram, two storage drives, ssd or hdd, and a decent i3 processor or he was interested in the new pentiums.

It was either i build him one for semi cheap or hes just gonna ask his employer for a mac mini but im pretty sure if they havent upgraded his 6 year old laptop by now that hes probably not going to get the mac mini.

depends how thick the radiator is, you can get some fat fucking 120mm rads that will cool pretty well, but they're so thick they take up a good bit of space.

Generally though an NH-D15 will perform up there with most any 120mm AIO and many 240mm AIOs but not all.

he committed 2 cardinal sins:
(1) ITX case is so crammed, you can barely see the inside.
(2) ITX case is so crammed, he is actually building outside the case.

>>
>>54689859
>>54689968
The only thing outside the case is the reservoir which is pretty much required for cases of that size when running a custom loop.

And you can hardly call it "building" outside the case, it's literally a 1-2" protrusion in the back about 8" tall and 5" wide. It's sleek as fuck for the performance he has in that space.

>ITX case is so crammed, you can barely see the inside
Okay you're literally retarded I guess, it's ITX, you aren't supposed to be able to see the insides. What the fuck would the point of that be on a case without a window anyway?

Either have the elegant custom water cooling and built in a slightly matx case (so we can see your magic) OR scratch custom water cooling altogether. That case can't handle both.

If someone can do a good ITX build then more power to them, but I think it's a waste of money and effort. If you do micro ATX instead, the case and motherboard will be cheaper, you get more room and slightly lower temps etc.

In performance sure, and in noise of course once you change the fans for non-stock fans.

Like it's not even that hard to do, you'll be spending $50-70 more once you buy the extra fans and shit. But if you prefer AIO looks, it's not a compromise in performance or noise levels. I mean how the fuck would an AIO make MORE noise using the SAME fucking fans on the NH-D15? Like literally, they're the same fans, same noise level. and pump noise on majority of AIOs will NOT be louder than your fans.

I never said it was gonna be cheaper than an NH-D15, but it can certainly match and even beat it in performance with a large enough AIO (280mm)

Oh boy.

Alright let me keep it simple for you since you're having problems.

4690k and 4790k are both being sold still and can be had for very good prices while being only 5-10% slower than the new 6xxx series. There is no incentive to upgrade and no reason for anyone to unless you NEED DDR4 or M.2 SSDs. It's just another incremental bullshit update from intel. Nothing new here.

The 2500k and 2600k when overclocked are still keeping up with the 6600k and 6700k despite being 5 years older.

There is a reason it's called skymeme, it's nothing new wrapped up in a brand new package with a higher pricetag, woooo.

Skylake isn't shit at all, It gets much better scores in cinebench than the 4790k it also has better gaymen performance. If you already own a 4790 then skylake is worthless but I upgraded from a 8350 on a shitty AM3+ motherboard. Not only did I get a great overclocker but the die shrink helps with temps, I can render a 4k video for two hours and never go over 70c at 4.7 1.31V
>>
>>54693479
>That's my whole point though, anyone with 2500k or later has no reason to upgrade.

Plenty reason to upgrade if you're NOT poor.
-More lanes
-m.2
-quad-channel ddr4 (double memory bandwidth)
-usb 3.1

but again, if you're poor, not worth it.
>>
>>54693930
its not even poor, it's about price for performance.

You're spending a LOT of money for NOT a lot of performance.

Sure, it'll be better and there is newer tech you can use. But none of it will be drastically better for a gamer or average computer user.

Now for anyone doing professional work obviously it can be more than worth it (as the time you save with a better CPU or better RAM is going to in turn make you more income).

>Gonna get that 10-core i7-6950X when it releases, too. Cry about it. As >>54694534 said, there's a 480GB SSD in there.

The point is that you shouldn't have a HDD in there, period. Especially an un-raided one.

So let's summarize, a 40 Lane CPU (that can only use 30% of its lanes) along with 2 Dimms (that can't go quad-channel) with m.2 (that can't be used due to NIC) with a shinny black custom water cooling (that can barely be seen).

You should literally be admitted to an insane asylum.
>>
Quick questions /guts/.

Do you think is reasonable to get the smallest case posible (I'm thinking in micro-atx) to fit inside a PI board and 2 hard drives?
>>
>>54694850
>Shiny black water cooling
It's matte. And I don't care if it can be seen, it wasn't for visuals. I did it for the cooling.

>Two Dimms
With 32GB of memory. Which is probably more than I really need anyways.

>40-lane CPU
Well, the current one is actually only 28 lanes. I didn't buy the X99 for the extra lanes, otherwise I would have bought a bigger board. I told you, it's for the extra cores.

And lastly, I can use that M.2/U.2 slot any time I want. I've even considered a Samsung 950 pro, but didn't buy it because I currently have no need for extra SSD storage.

I don't think you're understanding this build is fine for what I want.

Are you referring to the reservoir? It's not "strapped" on. It's mounted to the back flush and is hardly even noticeable.
>>
>>54695579
I'm guessing you haven't read, but, the only real "exterior" component is the reservoir. Which, only protrudes about an inch and a half. So, that space isn't really usable anyways, for all the cables and connectors. So it's not really increasing the footprint of the system.

I wasn't too fond of the idea at first, either, actually. But it made the most sense. And it's at the unseen end of the case, and again, doesn't reduce it's footprint. It's actually more functional than an internal reservoir. I can drain my entire system super quickly.

I'm sorry that my computer's guts look like shit, but I have a good reason for it. It's quiet as fuck now after my ghetto modding.

I'm not sure if I should continue to use this computer as it is or switch to mini-ITX when AMD Zen comes out.

Either way, I need a new CPU cooler. Any Noctua cooler with Noctua NF-A15/NF-A14 140mm fans is a no go because I have two of the latter and they are loud as fuck and produce an annoying ticking sound on lower RPM. I think it's just that fan design since my other Noctua fans are quiet and good.

I've been thinking about these;
>be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3
>be quiet! Dark Rock 3
>Noctua NH-C14

Another option is to put my computer in another room and feed the cables through a hole in the wall, achieving true 0dB operation.
