It is, so that's why you pony up for a 4-year college/university or you enroll/make friends at a local community college (dunno what the European equivalent is if there is one). Pretty sure some colleges offer single-class learning for those not currently in pursuit of a degree (auditing a class), but that might only be for old people.
Believe me, 42 is gonna be such a unicorn factory it'll be unreal. Hell, 42 might as well be a unicorn itself at this point. Plus, you're not being taught by anyone accredited or who's been through a lot of programming, and you're not getting any mentors there. It's peer "learning" and networking, through and through.
