So I'm currently working on a video project in Adobe After Effects which uses a lot of effects. Lens blurring, adding grain, color leveling and 3d camera tracking are just some of them.
And with all these effects on the render times can be cripplingly slow. A 4K 9 second clip I'm currently rendering is going to take 1.5 hours to finish rendering to H264.
My current rig is:
AMD-FX6300 Six Core @ 3.5Ghz
AMD R9 290 4GB
16GB RAM
What should I upgrade to improve render times? I've already got a pretty beefy GPU so it can't be that.

install gentoo

>pretty beefy GPU
irrelevant

moar cores

found ur problem

theres a containment thread for queations like these, but your best bet is to switch to a cpu that supports DDR4
also what kind of storage you using? switching from a hdd to an ssd would also be a big bump in performance

So stick with AMD? To my knowledge they typically have the most cores.

I forgot to mention that actually. It's a WD Blue HDD.

no lol. don't do that. Get an i7-5930k.
amd has more "fake" cores

What if I used a dual Xeon setup, like in that recent thread?
