I trust /g/'s recommendations more than some paid pajeets.

vim

Is this a serious recommendation or are you just memeing? I'm willing to consider it, but I don't want to learn a billion keybindings, I'd rather just be able to type and go.

Not him:
I use vi instead of vim, and you can learn vi in a single day, two days, or a week, if you want.
vi only takes as long to learn as you want it to.

vi doesn't have color though.
xedit, however, does.

Just use vim. Vim isn't hard and you can learn the basics that you need to start editing in minutes.

I already know how to use vi though, I was telling him how fast it is to learn.
I'm already quick and effective with the text editor, and don't feel a need to install the vim package.
ed man! !man ed

Learning vim takes like 10 minutes, then it's about as good as any regular text editor. Mastering it takes considerably longer, but the efficiency gains are well worth the effort.
>use vim
>do everything in insert mode
What binds do I need to learn to use?

There's a fast startup section if you want to learn less.
