Why can't iOS into webbums?
cause they're owned by Google
same reason they cant into silverlight or flash player

That means they would have to add functionality to their os, can't have that

Just watched the trailer for that movie. It looks fucked up. It's not funny, it's disturbing.

Isn't it an open format, mister?
>>54649968
Flash is a security liability, no one wants to support it anymore, not even on the desktop.
>>54649968
But those are proletary formats, mister.
>>54649985
That's another reason why they don't support it
>>54649985
They want to render it obsolete by preventing a large part of the smartphone marketshare from using it, same with Flash.

Flash was full of security leaks. Webm is not. Since its no more than a codec.

QuickTime doesn't have it, so you can't use the iOS api to play it
You can however include a ffmpeg based video player in your app to play it
>>54649917
Same reason they can't into FLAC, Ogg, or Opus. It's free, and Apple'll have none of that.

The reasons for making it obsolete on desktop and mobile differ greatly. They wanted it off mobile cause muh keyboard and mouse.

Because Apple devices have hardware h.264 decoders.
Safari has an option to view them from the VLC app. Its inconvenient but it works.
