Hard drive is dying.
Probs.

Fans are filled wiith gunk
Also probably.

Your PSU is fucked
>You don't want this to happen but it might also be possible.

You really have to be more specific then
>I turned it on and it started screeching
>>

It's not a very old computer.
2011 Thinkpad Edge.
Everything is working normally.
I'm sure it will be fine. This damn thing is falling apart anyways.
>>
>>54627757
Open laptop case.
Replace the cat.
>>
>>54627801
Thanks for the help.
>>
Figure out where the noise is coming from. Use a paper towel roll as a stethoscope if you have to.

If you're not retarded you should be able to figure it out just by the noise, but we can't all be geniuses.

>Edge
>falling apart
not surprised
2012 ThinkPad W530.
Works great. I think I have another 5 years on it before I should think about replacing it.
>>
>>54627859
That's the problem. It isn't making the noise anymore. It only happened when I turned it on.
I'm using it right now and I'm not having any problems.
>>

>2011 Thinkpad Edge
Check the power brick.
See if it's still humming.

Also clean that fucker up.
>>
>>54627873
Lucky bastard.
I wish I would've picked something more internet approved.
I will replace it when it stops working.
>>
>>54627889
Clean it up?
Explain?
>>
>>54627883
Then recreate the situation that prompted the noise, doc.
>>
>>54627919
I'm not gonna worry about it.
That shit would take an hour or two.
If I start having any actual problems then I will try to figure out a solution. Thanks for the help anyways. Goodbye anons.
>>
>>54627757
punch it (just enough for doing minor damage on the metal).

Works with mine everyday. Fucking cheap font, I swear.
>>
>>54627914
Open that fucker up.
Take out the Rams and clean their contacs with a rubber eraser
Take out the fan and clean it.
Then remove the heat sink clean the thermal paste and replace it.
Then take out the motherboard and clean all the plastics bellow it.
Proceed to reassemble it.
>>
>>54627757
Oh wait, it's not a desktop. Then just slap it
