trying to fix a popup scripting error in the foobar ncmpcpp mod I get upon startup. In the readme it says:
//Script Error
Scripting Engine Initialization Failed (Playcount Sync by marc2003, CODE: 0x80020101)
Check the console for more information (Always caused by unexcepted script error).'
The above error can be fixed by going to 'Preferences>Tools>WSH Panel Mod'
and making sure that 'Debug mode' and 'Safe mode' are unchecked.

I unchecked safe mode but there's no option for debug mode and I keep getting the error. What do?

To be a good white had you need to be good at bash and C and at least be able to read assembly (to spot flaws in code), other then that learn a scripting language (as those are mostly used for on the fly payloads and what not.)

study networking and vms

>get a decent mobo with virt capabilties
>install a hypervisor and create 2 centos vms >then a freebsd vm to act as a router between them and your real network.
>add another computer, repeat (automate this time) the process of adding a router and two nodes between you network.
>on computer A, on one of the two centos VM's create a webserver (using a slightly outdated version of apache) and install ssh (again outdated).
>make sure you have dhcp set up on the router
>connect the two subnets with another router (simulating the internet)
>once you can view the webserver from another vm on the other computer, start attacking it.
>learn to break in in everyway, through up an outdated cms on the webserver and sql inject it, dos attack it, find a vulernability in ssh or apache and practice exploting it across the network (practice creating a botnet against the server)
>move to webserver once botnet is done, save it from destruction by the botnet by using you knowledge of the system and the botnet (this is the most important part, by this time you will no how to destroy a webserver but us white hats are the good guys and so once you create an exploit you have to create a fix for it.)

by the time you have built this lab, you will have the knowledge you need to be a decent pentester; add in a good knowledge of C and Assembly (processors in general really) and a few years of experience you'd make a good security advisor.

^this is also a fun game no matter who you are so long as you have the brains

Can someone help? My Galaxy s4 recently died and I need a new phone. I've been looking at cheap options like Galaxy J3, LG G Flex 2, LG Stylo 2 (I have sprint), and I'm wondering if I'm going to be missing a lot going from a (dated)flagship phone to a cheaper phone. Should I just give in and get a note or s6?.

I'm pretty sure my OS is fucked. A bunch of programs crash immediately when opened, and my GPU drivers have been crashing CONSTANTLY. Also, the other day, my GPU OC preset in afterburner had been adjusted to max everything out (That's +87mV and +1Ghz core clock! On a sub-par motherboard I should add). I have no idea how that happened.

Before I go and do a clean install of windows, is there any potential solution for this that I might have ignored? Windows 7, by the way.

I'm having issues with my internet.
When I try to enter a thread on any board, this screen shows up sometimes, normally on threads that have a high reply count. How large? And you don't need to be able to max out everything. The higher resolution makes such a significant difference on larger screens (40"+) that you'd be surprised how good the game looks even on medium settings. Not to mention that current top tier cards can run 4k60 just not maxed out. The upcoming flagships and enthusiast cards will not have an issue perhaps sans some particular settings. Besides, with the higher resolution comes less need for anti aliasing. 2-4x msaa is plenty, if you absolutely must have it enabled. I've had a good experience with my seiki se39uy04 (they have a 50 and 65 inch version for it.) with the only drawback being limited to 4k 30hz. Run it at 1080 120hz primarily, and 1440 72hz for some games. For any wondering, no it is not usable as a standard monitor in 1440, because it's not running native anything (text hurts to look at). Does well for games and videos. That's it. They have newer models with 4k 60hz but they don't seem to be nearly as good. They do have high end monitors as well, but those will run you around 1k$+

No idea.

I had a celeron in an old ~2000 prebuild I accidentally ripped a pin off, but it still worked. But that was only one pin.

If the pins are pure gold, you should be able to bend them back, but you have to do it very slowly, or else they'll fall.

http://vrworld.com/2016/05/11/amd-confirms-sony-playstation-neo-based-zen-polaris/

Sorry, CPU clocked at 2.1ghz (Zen Lite) and GPU clocked over 900mhz. In addition, double the compute units in the gpu, faster memory, and somewhere between 1500 and 2560 shaders which will put it in the R9 400 range.

Not sure what Zen lite is, one forum speculated it`s going to have reduced cache, or perhaps have SMT disabled. Also, apparently devs will be able to implement game patches allowing for use of the new hardware.

Either way, based on that article, it`s looking like AMD really has something going for them with zen and polaris. Pretty exciting times, hopefully it`s not all just hype.

>Steam OS
One hell of a steam machine it would make. Maybe we`ll see something like this within a year.

I want to get him back by making a retractable clown that explodes foward when he opens the bathroom door scaring him, but that's not it. It will also have a taser attached(on low) that will also shock him for double shock value(or pepper spray, still debatin). It will all be on video as well.

I'm going to make a Mini-ITX built and use it as my main PC.

I am planning on a 6th gen i5, 16gb DDR4, and stock heatsink with a CX430M.

Video games used to be my everything, as I'm sure it was for most of you - that is no longer my priority now, however I don't want to use the integrated graphics because doesn't that take away from CPU performance?
I want this shit to be ultra fast, I won't be upgrading for many years.

I'm trying to find a graphics card that has only 512mb VRAM only to discover that it doesn't seem they make such a thing anymore.

If I don't really intend on playing games that much, and probably not even online, should I even bother getting a GPU and just stick with the integrated HD530?
Also would CX430M be able to handle all of this, or should I up it to a 500watt psu?

>tl;dr
Is CX430 enough to handle 16gb DDR4, i5 CPU, stock heatsink/cooler, SSD on a mini ITX Build?

Is current gen intel integrated graphics enough to get by on, or is it worth it to buy a video card even if I don't plan on gaming, but do not intend on upgrading again?

It`s an active adapter, and likely will cause input lag, though. But hey, I was playing World of Warships in 4k with medium settings at 45fps with a 7950. Bastard can still chooch. Also, that 45fps was after enabling triple buffering. Only ran 30 prior because vsync and my tv only runs 4k@30hz

Kind of new to Python. I'm creating a class that will receive a path as an argument:

foo = MyClass("path/to/file.txt")

Then in the MyClass.__init__(), it attempts to open the file and read it in.

Now what's the best way to handle the errors that could occur if __init__ can't read the file, so that the main program knows that the object has not been successfully created? Do I throw an exception? In other languages, I think I would do this by having the constructor return a null object instead of the pointer to the object, then have the main program check to see if the object is null or not. But in Python, things don't seem to work that way.

Essentially I just want my main script to be aware that there was a problem reading in the file while creating the object instance.

Let's say I have a laptop with an HDD with win 8 on it, and an empty SSD, and I want to put 10 on the SSD and put it in the laptop, using the key from 8.

What would be the best way to procede?
-Update 8 to 10
-find the key with that Nirsoft program and write it somewhere
-put the ssd in the laptop
-clean install 10
-use key

or

-update 8 to 10
-shrink volume
-clone hdd to ssd
-swap disks

or

-make a media creation tool for 10 from the win 8
-put SSD in laptop
-clean install 10, and it should automathically activate

I've read contradictory stuff while looking so I'm not really sure if the last one, wich would be the faster, would work.

The 500psu, 8gb ddr3 is good enough, I'm not familiar enough with AMD cpus to judge the processor, but 3 ghz should be adequate as well.

Its the graphics that got me worried there.

Where do you live anon?
Send me some parts and a nice tip, and I'll send back a custom PC, btw I'm a nigerian prince.

my SSD is slow as shit, installed windows on it when I bought it and it took like 10 seconds for my PC to boot first few times

now after I have installed, Steam, Origin, Raptr and various drivers it takes close to 40-50 seconds to boot (all my games and etc are downloaded and installed to a HDD separate from my SSD)

160gb free out of 240gb so it's not full or anything, anyone have any ideas? I am tempted to just re-format it and try installing windows again

Model/brand?

Try using ccleaner or msconfig to remove your startup programs

install lightweight linux distro, be liberated from evil windows 10

>implying you want to use windows 10
>implying you're capable of making your own decisions or that you really know what you want

You don't know what you want silly willy, you want linux

It's not for me.
And I'm not going to force a linux distro down my parents throat.

I'm already using both linux(debian/i3wm) and win.

Hi /v/.

Yeah, that will do what you want - low to medium settings but at more than decent FPS.

If you know how to put a GPU inside a PC though, why not just build your PC?

For anyone unaware of what or how thermal interface material is / works.

http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2009/02/16/all-about-tim/1

Pads are nice for mass production because you don't have to worry about pic related, but ideally you use as little as possible in order ensure as much metal on metal contact possible without leaving air gaps. The issue with pads is they eliminate all potential proper contact.

>>54630238
No, a dual core apu that doesn't even have a dedicated gpu is not going to cut it.

>>54630238
Make a Bootable 10 install disc or USB drive, update to 10 from 8.1, swap drives, clean install 10. Windows 10 links itself to your mobo serial, so when you reinstall it'll automatically read your hardware and validate your copy. As long as the mobo doesn't change you can reinstall as many times as your heard desires without ever having to worry about validating your copy.

patriot ignite 240gb - it wasn't the cheapest my store had but still pretty cheap

the day I installed it and put windows on it went so fast and then after installing like 4 or 5 programs it was already as slowing down quite noticeably

note - I didn't think you had to format it before installing windows and running it so I didn't, should I have?

its okay. based on what ^^^ said, your CPU is shit, but I didn't want to speak without being completely sure of myself.

That is a laptop tier CPU. To put it in perspective, I am running a AMD A8 CPU right now with Radeon 5 graphics.

I can't even play TF2 with maxfps and no hats and no skybox, no particles etc without dropping to 16 fps in combat. I barely game, because I couldn't game the times I want to anyways.

Pic related is the only games you will be playing on your epic PC

parted is showing 1049kB (kilobytes) and fdisk is showing sector counts (and it shows the sector size as 512b, so 2048*512b=1,048,576b, which rounds to 1,049kB)

Logical increments.

Or, do what I am doing at >>54630003

You don't need video games anyways anon.
PS, my build will cost around 500 dollars when finished, and is already more powerful than the meme computer you pulled up, even with the integrated HD graphics.

You could do my exact build, and throw a 750ti in there and have something nice, or something from AMD.

doesn't really work well without solder, the wires tend to be coated metal, so they won't conduct easily just by twisting them together
>>
>>54629724
ensure the fan is working properly
clean out dust from the heatsink
perhaps replace the thermal paste

the terminal doesn't seem to support carriage returns
lines that update in-place are done by moving the cursor to the start of the current line and writing the line again, over the old one
if the terminal doesn't support moving the cursor like that, then the status line is just printed over and over, after one another
>>
>>54630534
Prebuilts are fine. but you have to keep in mind that you are paying a premium for someone else to do something less complicated than an erector set. You could build an am1 amd system with something like a 750ti for 3-400$. It won't be expandable, or holy shit amazing, but it will get the job done.

Go here and look at guides, you can put in all your info for needs and budget and it'll pick the parts for you.

That max temp still seems awe fully high, consider getting some fresh AC5, or some thermaltake TG-7. Though you may just have to wait for it to cure. At least you`re not at risk of a house fire. If the pic I posted of the GPU up above is an indicator, never trust the TIM on used parts.

>>54630650
Good job and glad to hear it. Those pads sure are a shit move on the manufacturers part.

I've seen once a cool feature for sublime (or emacs?) looking like a minimap of entire source code on the side allowing easy file traversing.

How is it 'profesionally' called so i can look more about it, and is something like that available for VS'12?
>>
your opinion on LG, Motorola, Huawei ?
>>
>>54630814
I think it's called a minimap, and pretty much every editor has it. Notepad++ for example.
>>
windows 10 basic, Acer Nitro.

Whenever i leave and my computer turns off the display, when i turn it back on, everything is closed and re-loading itself like it just restarted.

So far, system troubleshooting and virus/malware scans find nothing.

I have found a setting to turn off the hard drive after x amount of inactivity. Should i turn it off?
>>
What's a lightweight text editor with hardly any dependencies? Like a step up from nano
>>
>>54630862
I'm a dumb fuck and didn't think about simple 'minimap'...

Already donwloaded, it's a content of Productivity Power Tools.

Thanks.
