Ok /g/ I've encountered something strange.
Used Make MKV to rip blu-ray movie (1080p)
Put giant 1080p mkv file into handbrake, with high profile defaults. RF=20.
Tried again, put 1080p mkv file into handbrake, with high profile defaults. RF=20. But this time I set the output resolution to 720p.
Both files are the same fucking size.
Why is the 720p file the same size as the 1080p file?
You didn't change the bitrate, you dumbasfuck

Constant quality, there is no bitrate setting to change.
>>54593637
Theoretically the 720p file should have come out aprox half the size of 1080p
>>54593642
The high default bitrate is still lower than the blu-ray bitrate.
When you make a 720p file it's still squeezing as much information into the image as possible, and that results in the same file size. Reduce your bitrate for the 720p video and you will get reduced file size.

But I'm using Constant Quality! Not average bitrate.

For a given RF value, all other things equal, the lower resolution should be a smaller file.
