Wouldn't /dev/urandom be better since it doesn't block? I have never wiped my drive with dd.

May be true. Although I don't really care in either case,
the only thing I wipe is usually the encryption header, and then only premeditated.
I'm not living in the movie Hackers, I don't need to wipe my drive in seconds while the prodigy is paying in the background.
Also /dev/random has higher entropy iirc.
