Laptops are shit and yours is worse than most. Keep in mind this is proprietary hardware and firmware to a much greater extent than a typical desktop PC, and no one is paid to maintain Linux compatibility with it. I'm a huge Linux proponent but, personally, I'd say leave Windows on there.
