What dpi does /g/ use?

Default. 570 I think it is.

Depends on how shit your resolution is and screen size

It depends on what I'm printing.

No, I don't think so. I said I use the default dpi and it's around 570. What are you trying to say with this >>54570202 ?
>>
>>54570273
The default depends on your screen
There isnt a default dpi
>>
>>54570291
The default setting for my phone, you fucking idiot.

It must be tough being retarded.
>>
>>54570336
Every phone comes with a default setting for dpi. Of course it depends on the resolution and size, but a (factory) default exists.

why is it retarded to use the default? are you such an idiosyncratic person that you need every setting to be touched before you can use it?

The factory defaults are good for most people (or they should be, if your phone manufacturer isn't absolutely retarded). if people generally need to change something as behind-the-scenes as pixel density settings on a phone, then that makes me nervous that all sorts of other shit in the phone (both hardware and software) were idiotically designed.

>were idiotically designed.
this is the exact reason people change their DPI on phones, anon

by default the DPI != PPI for the screen

It really SHOULD be default that way, just like native resolution is "default" in an OS connected to an LCD monitor. But it isn't, so you change it.

A 5" screen that's 1920x1080 should have elements on the screen the same size as a 5" screen that's 1280x720. you get that by using the proper pixel density settings, which should be the default settings (again, assuming the phone was made by humans and not monkeys).

if you're saying you want UI elements on the screen to be smaller because of the higher pixel density, then you need to read about Fitt's Law and stuff
>>
>>54570445
this, on a 5 inch full hd
>>
>>54570163
Why would anyone involve scalar crap to display in anything other than native/default resolution?
>>
>>54570836
do you have to set it on your phone? is it not already set to the right level?

this is like having to calibrate your speedometer. sure, you *might* get a more accurate readout, but this should be sorted out before it gets to you, and only in very very very rare circumstances should you need to change it.

no,
you get that by using icons of a different size. This is managed by your launcher, not your OS. Nova launcher allows arbitrary icon sizing and grid spacing, for example, and does not use PI to change that.

If you change the pixel density from effective 1080p to effective 720p, all of your images, fonts, etc are being re-sampled to a size which doesn't map to pixels on the screen.

it is not different from using a 1080p MONITOR at 720p. Looks like ass.

you understand that your launcher doesn't determine the size of every element in every app you use, right?

you're just talking about your home screen, which is frankly a confusing misunderstanding of how your phone does (or at least should) work.

your phone should know and report the actual pixel density of your screen to the OS, and thus map pixels accurately. changing it is obviously wrongheaded; if you want larger buttons, you should go into your accessibility features (or into each and every single app that you use) and change the settings to make things scale larger. but that shouldn't be accomplished by fooling your device into thinking that its pixel density is different from reality.

I use 160 dpi
Am I cool now?

480? I think that's the default for 1080p screens.

yes, I have to mod the build.prop.
The stock value is 480 but I just like it better this way.
