works fine. The waterproofing has held up through one moderate shower thus far, and the mounting hardware is "adequate". It felt slightly flimsy and was rather fiddly to install but thus far it's survived about four hours of spirited riding without falling off.

I have a "Lepy" 2.1 amplifier that's pretty neat, ran me around ~$12-20 IIRC.
The sub output distorts if you try to pull too much volume out of it, but it sounds neat at desktop volume. Main fun part is the subwoofer has a separate volume knob from the left and right channels, so you can play around with the balance and set anywhere from 0% to 100% bass only.
There's a bit of noise on the left and right channels, but you don't notice unless you sit ~30 cm from the cones.
There's also a few 2.1 amps at the $30-$50 level which look interesting, but I can't really justify that spending level ATM

You are aware that you have to solder that thing together yourself, right? That's like 100+ solder points, easy.
Also: It's class A with ~240 ma stated quiescent current, so that little fucker's going to be burning 3-6 W constantly and those heatsinks are going to get warm/hot. If you already know what class A and why you want it that's fine, but if not a class AB, B, or D amp is almost certainly better.
Also note that it says you will need to supply your own transformer for the device, you need a center-tapped design that can supply a +15 and -15 AC rail.
If you're neet then totally go for it, it's a great way to learn and it's how I got my start. Now that I do electronics for a living some of the "zazz" is gone, which is probably why I'm pouring cold water on your idea.
There are simpler, class AB or D amplifier designs at the ~$10-12 mark that take DC, have much lower power usage (and thus heat) and only have ~30-40 solder points if you're looking for more of a beginner project.
The Fiio e6 is a. made in china. b. 26 dollars and c. has a weird name, so I don't see how it's not chinkshit. If you're just looking for something that works, instead of some fedora DIY cred you should just buy that.

I've been using my Redmi 3 (not the note) for 3 months now and as a light user it's perfect for me. 2-3 days worth of battery life while browsing a few hours daily, making a few phone calls and using a few light apps. (8+ hours of SoT consistently). The camera is good with above adequate lighting, but low light isn't great.
I only have one minor complaint. Push notifications sometimes don't work immediately due to the very strict background process freezing, but I feel like I've worked around that by fiddling with the permissions and other settings.

looks nice for the price, but you can tell the general parts are a bit lower quality. Chipset is not as good as the Xiaomi's (Ambarella A9SE, which is basically an upgraded chip from the GoPro Hero 4 Black and supports 1440@60FPS), Sensor is a bit lower grade, and 900mah vs 1400mah battery on the Xiaomi.
not saying it's bad, but there's generally a reason for the difference in price. Xiaomi's stuff probably only has $30 markup due to brand name.

Tecsun PL-310ET is a really nice portable radio.
There are a couple other Tecsun's that have some other features like a SD slot for music, lipo battery.
The PL-310's nice feature is it has a USB port to charge rechargable AA's (radio takes 3)
It's a somewhat pricy radio but it's really solid feature wise, has memory, auto tuning, auto scanning (so it finds all the stations and you just toggle between them)
Has a external antenna hole I haven't used.

Yesterday I flashed back to 7.2.5.0 china stable fastboot with miflas, then managed to flash 7.3.2.0 with the updater app, and it seems the problem has been fixed. It's pain in the ass tho, had to read moon runes to flash playstore and framework. Also a ton of chinese shit, which I yet have to find a way to disable/remove.
The whole night the phone didn't loose signal, the battery history is pretty much (almost) straight line.
And now I see that there's the 7.3.2.0 OTA for the global stable... I might flash back to it and see if it works there too.
