I know you can get yosemite on it, but how well would it run el capitan ?

I have the T9600 with the nvs 160m card.

4gb of ram in it atm but I could throw another 4 in and an SSD no problem.
>>
>>54561282
No, there are no drawbacks as long as you have the hardware. It only takes time to perfect your hackintosh by creating your DSDT, SSDT and configuring the kexts to work properly and get those general bugs fixed. The more accurate hardware you have, the less you need to fuck around. Once you got it working, you have it working permanently unless Apple rewrites their drivers or some bullshit (which they never fucking do).
>>
>>54561538
Yes.

www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/285678-lenovo-thinkpad-t420-with-uefi-only/

You might need to have the network card replaced if it is the Intel one and you want wireless connection.

best way to run OSX on top of windows in a VM?
>>
Bump.

What's the best tutorial to follow for skylake builds with nvidia cards? (For El Capitan).
>>
>>54561952
run it alongside windows.
>>
Put Yosemite on a VM earlier today.

Gave it 8GB of RAM, 128MB video and 4 cores but it was really choppy. Is this expected?

I'll probably just use it to make a Hackintosh USB anyway and install for real.
>>
>>54564582
Same. I followed tutorial by some indian and I even messaged him but he just responded with generic anwser. Don't know why people said it is smooth. Maybe for them, because, yes, it is kinda usable, but it is still far from good.
>>
>>54564776
>>54564582
Are you guys seriously expecting it to be smooth without hardware acceleration?

Using Yosemite (heh) under a virtual machine is useless unless you go with GPU passthrough. The only purpose of that is precisely to create a hackintosh USB, nothing more.
>>
>>54564911
My Ubuntu and Win VMs are buttery newborn baby's bottom smooth

I guess OSX UI is a lot heavier
>>
>>54564938
You also install extra drivers for them. Windows is pretty shitty until you install extras.
>>
>>54561381
>>54561439
It will run like fried ass unless hardware acceleration is working.
>>

Is Tonymac's Unibeast bullshit still the recommended way to hackintosh? After reading how he intimidates bloggers who shit on his shitty software, I'm not sure I want to use it.

I'm not sure which guides to follow on Tonymacs website. There are guides from users with similar build to mine and some "official" ones as far as I can see.
>>
>>54561282
Yes.
Basically with Apple even if you use Nvidia shit is going to run like garbage on the latest OSX because the driver support is fucking terrible.
>>
>>54565675
Hackintoshing AMD hardware is generally more trouble than its worth. Keep in mind official macs are always Intel based, so you're running third party hacks of varying quality.

Help appreciated.

has anyone has issues with certain ssds (ocz in this case)? I couldn't get el capitan on a machine because after a few reboots i would get some kind of irreparable os drive error having to do with hfs+, it happened about 5 times before i gave up, i had trim enabled and it was plugged into sata 2 on an asus p5q-pro

Neat. How smooth is it? Battery life vs Linux?

its extremely smooth since im using a ssd, everything works from scrolling to gestures. the battery life is surprisingly better than linux, i was getting 3:30h on average on ubuntu 15 lts and up to 5 on a good day on el capitan idk why

>>54566579
Shit, I have W10 on my small SSD and I don't want to fuck with it, so I'll have to install it on a 5400RPM drive. Will the experience be a lot worse or not?

ASRock Z97 Anniversary Edition
Intel 15-4690K
16GB Dual-Channel Corsair Vengeance DDR3
NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB
Gigabyte WiFi Adapter PCI-E
I do not have access to a Mac currently and would like to accomplish the Hackintosh without access to a Machine currently running OS X. So far I've honestly found nothing that will work for me.
>>
>>54566699
form observations of some of my friends mac books a low rpm hdd will kill the experience no matter what you do, (these are the stock hdd's from 2013 versions) boot times are well over 45 sec using finder or spotlight takes up to 10 sec to find a result on the good ones
>>
its a small trackpad so even if it worked its gonna be annoying as fuck to do
>>
>>54566731
Well fuck me then. Would 7200RPM be better or should I install OS X on a second partition of the SSD? Man, I only have around 70GBs left and I don't want to fuck up my Windows.
>>
>>54566846
go full or dont go at all, most apps will work on mac
>>
>>54566846
Why don't you make an image of the Windows install and just use the SSD?
I don't know what tool you'd use for that, but I know they exist.
>>
If anybody is wondering how to get OS X running on a VM, this guide is good. I did this and even though it works like crap, you will easily be able to download El Capitan from Apple Store and create a bootable USB from there.

Get the xBytez torrent for the VMware image and follow the instructions, with VMWare Tools installed it's fast and smooth and DMG files can be drag and dropped right into the VM. The Yosemite image is dogshit but El Capitan works well.

The only real issue is the included win-install script has to be run every time you update VMWare.

OSX is a steaming pile of shit in battery management. Macbooks need massive batteries to get the battery life that regular laptops get with batteries half the size. Putting OSX on a laptop with a smaller battery will get you 30 minutes tops.
>>
>>54575302
so are you saying that rMBPs would have substantially longer battery life if they ran linux/windows? Apple reports 9 or 10 hours depending on the configuration.

are you saying linux offers more than 20% improvement?
>>
>>54575811
never mind, i just googled it. one guy reports a drop from ~10 hours to 4 in linux. another reports roughly equivalent battery life. nobody seems willing to claim longer battery life and have their identity and credibility on the hook for that claim.

so... it's probably a horse shit claim.

I am struggling in a dilemma. I have a mid2010 MBP which served me really well until know. And I learned to love working with OSX in the process of it. But now I approach programming projects where its i7 2.66Ghz is not enough anymore, I also need more RAM. I could of course by a new iMac or so, but I really want to invest my money into the system setup in pic related. Question is: could it be turned into a hackintosh to run OSX? I wouldn't really want to switch to Win or Linux. I find it hard to find information about what hardware setup allows for hackintosh, and which does not. Is there a website for that?

I dont't know. Install and test.

1- Download El Capitan from App Store
2- http://olarila.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=4932
3- Configure your UEFI and install.
4- Post instalation
5- install nvidia drivers: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/306535-nvidia-web-driver-updates-for-el-capitan-update-05032016/
6- cuda drivers: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/302795-cuda-7526-is-out-update-03222016/
7- configure your power management: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/295587-power-management-for-sandyivy-bridgehaswell-cpus/

I have a question to my Hackintosh VPCEH1Z1E with El Capitan installed on it. The core functions like WLAN, Sound, DVD&CD and Graphics are working perfectly and I am using this Setup since 4 months. By now I wanted to get HDMI working as its not working completely. When i plug a HDMI Cable to the Port there is no reaction. I have heard about DSDT-Patching but I don't have any Idea how to progress. Last Year I had a Hackintosh with Yosemite on the same Laptop and HDMI did work back then.
I don´t want to change much as I am very scared of Kernel Panics because I don´t have a drive to backup everything on the Hackintosh.

I've been frustrated with the backlight control because I'm in 10.11.4 and no ways seems to work. My working ig-platform-id is 0x0D220003 which is a desktop version and the socket of screen cable is eDP. So i did a kext injetion with the eDP num 04 00 00 00 to replace 00 04 00 00. But no matter what I changed the value to, the tablet seemed the same, no blank screen, nor working backlight control.
ACPI method , Intelbacklight, Applebacklightinjection. Nothing works.
I'll put my dsdt, config.plist, ioreg here later.

You need edit clover before installation, not after.

For installation, use the clover config on boot.

1- Boot on USB with OS X
2- You're in clover

Profit. Now check and uncheck what you need.

In post installation, use the clover configurator to configure you plist.

What is /g/'s opinion on Ozmosis bootloader?

I've always run a hackintosh with Chameleon/Clover - but I heard Ozmosis is as close as you can get to native OS X. And that'd be great for my new build.

Drawbacks are poor documentation and a not straightforward first install with basically flashing your BIOS. But I wonder if there is anything besides this.

Hello guys,

im brand new in the hackintosh scene. And already got some problems.
Last week I bought this Laptop: Asus Zenbook UX303UB-R4072T
(Intel Core i7 6500U, 12GB RAM (custom, self installed), 500GB SSD (custom, self installed), NVIDIA GeForce 940M)

Set everything in UEFI: Disabled fastboot, disabled VT-d, set graphics to 64m

But everytime i try to boot over unibeast/clover the el captain i get an kernel panic:

"zone_init: kmem_suballoc failed"@/Library/Caches/com.apple.xbs/Sources/xnu-3248.38.4/osfmk/kern/zalloc.c:2284

Can you help me? Please if you give me instructions make them newbie understandable ;) like where to type commands where to edit etc.. thank you so much

BTW: Touchpad isn´t working. (Already in Clover)

Greetings from Germany.

RAM Configuration:

4096 DDR3 1600 (soldered)
8192 DDR3 1600 (plugged)

there is no more free slot

My 2nd Problem is that the touchpad isnt working. Already in Clover Bootmenu i see the cursor but i can´t move it. Only keyboard is working. The Touchpad is a: ASUS Touchpad
Hardware ID: ACPI\VEN_FLT&DEV_0102

thank you so much.

>>54586588
thank you kylec and rehabman, the site is very useful. Now I got it.
There is no more kernel panic at booting. The progress bar under the Apple Logo appears.
But I got another problem the usb stick stops blinking at the same time as pogress bar appears. (the progress bar shows no progress)
I think it´s because it doesn´t natively support my USB 3 Controller (i got only three 3.0 Ports - no 2.0)

I found many tutorials how to inject kexts on post-installation but not how to inject them at pre-installation. May I ask you again for some help?

RehabMan,

Thank you for your reply. This is the guide I followed.

All went well except for copying back the config.list for my model. Once I did this the OSX would not boot. Put back the original config.plist (what was originally the copy from your Probook Git) and the system was fine again but still no audio.

Any suggestions?

so sell your CPU and get something with integrated graphics. Unfortunately if you want OS X you have to base all of your hardware around its limited compatibility.

I have the Dell XPS 13 with the Dell Wireless 1560 (Broadcom BCM94352Z). I've tried both the Fake PCI injector kexts (with the kexts I've tried both putting them in Clover and in /S/L/E) and the plist edit methods yet wifi is still not being enabled.

Both methods work in that OS X can detect the wifi card (it's listed as en0 and type airport), but when I go into Network preferences and click "turn on wifi" nothing happens.

Thanks for your help!
Restore all system kexts to vanilla (run the OS X installer). Install only the required FakePCIID kexts. Make sure you have the correct 5Ghz patch for your region. Boot without caches initially so the 5Ghz patch can be applied. Rebuild cache. Then test.

If not working, make sure the device is on. Some laptops have dedicated keys to toggle power. Test the hardware in Windows to make sure it is working.

If still not working, it could be an ACPI problem. Make sure you patched per laptop guide.
>>
>>54587869
When I reboot into Windows, Wifi works on startup, so the hardware switch isn't enabled.

I've tried booting with only FakePCIID and FakePCIID Broadcom Wifi installed in /S/L/E but I get the same result - wifi is detected but it doesn't turn on.

What exactly is the 5 GHz patch? I didn't do any patching, so could this be the problem?

WHY ARE YOU REPLYING TO ME YOU PIECE OF SHIT
>>
>>54587866
I've followed all of the steps but wifi is still eluding me, though. (I haven't done any ACPI patching since I only need wifi right now, not battery status/keyboard backlight, so there shouldn't be any ACPI problems).

Here's what I've done so far:
1. Install the FakePCIID and FakePCIBroadcomWifi kexts into /S/L/E from your repository
2. Run the wireless_bcm94352 command (I didn't change the country code since I'm in the US)
3. Replace the original IOFamily and IOBluetooth kexts with the kexts generated by the command
4. Whitelist doesn't apply to the 94352, so I skipped
5. Installed the BrcmFirmwareRepo and BrcmPatchRAM2 kexts to /S/L/E

At this point the 5ghz patch guide says I should have wifi. Am I missing a step somewhere? I am a bit confused about the country code step, specifically the part here:

The config you mention is only for installation. The main config.plist has the US FCC 5ghz patch by the-darkvoid. You should use your own config.plist, but copy/paste the 5ghz patch.
I've restored the IOFamily and IOBluetooth patches to vanilla and then I downloaded your u430 repo. I think I copied the correct section from the config.plist in the root of the repo (the wifi-related keys under the kextstoinject section) but when I restart with cleared caches, open up network preferences, and then click "turn on wifi" nothing happens.

Did I forget to copy a section?

Hey guys,

Just finished installing El Capitan on my laptop. Works, except that the trackpad, the laptop's keyboard, the wifi, audio and bluetooth won't work. Also, I have to use the "cpus=1" boot flag due to a local APIC error, which I will fix at some point.

I am just wondering what are the names of the drivers I should install exactly, at least for the laptop to work like a laptop without an external keyboard and mouse.

Also not too sure which drivers to select from the MultiBeast tool.

Detailed specs are here: http://icecat.us/us/p/hp/g6q73ua/laptops-0888793076699-17-f053ca-23212047.html

Thanks for the help!

Hello, this is my first time posting so i apologize if im in the wrong section.
I am trying to install OS X el capitan on my HP Elitebook 2530p, Intel core 2 duo, 4 gigs of ram, 160 GB hard drive. I ucreated a usb drive with clover using the uefi option (my computer supports efi booting) and it successfully creates the usb installer, but boot off the said created usb it comes up to a menu with several option to boot including OS X Installer. I proceed to select OS X installer but after i select it, the screen turns black and 30 seconds later the computer shuts off. I have tried recreating the usb several time with no avail, any ideas?

I apologize, Here are my specs

Mobo: Hp Elitebook 2530p
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.40 GHz, code name penryn
Graphics: Intel GMA 4500MHD, 1280x800
Using Unibeast 6.2.0 with clover UEFI on a 16 GB flash drive

I know my computer is able to run it because when i boot it from the hard drive of my other hackintosh, it boots up fine but only with the boot flag -f, i just cant get into the os x installer from the usb

Hello everyone, I need to update the OS that is in my machine, I'm actually running yosemite and I need to update to El capitan.

My laptop is a CCE with this configs:
Processor: Intel Core i3 - 3217U 1.8 GHz
RAM: 4Gb
HDD: Sata II 5400rpm
Video: Intel HD Graphic 4000

and I followed the tutorial to install the El Capitan, but when I boot the flash drive it doesn't reach the welcome screen, staying stuck in a black screen.

If I forgot some detail, tell me that I post it here.
Thanks and sorry for the english :c

I was trying to make my audio work, but after several patches to Clover and to my SSDT, it still doesn't work. I also noticed that my internal audio doesn't show on the System Information. Any idea why? (Screenshot attached below)
>>
>>54588192
I've patched the SSDT if that's what you're asking for. I found your Envy 4 patches and found out that I need some edit on my config.plist, applied it, and the audio works, but now only on the earphones, but the built-in speakers doesn't work.

EDIT: Used Mirone's AppleHDA patcher, but replaced his vanilla AppleHDA.kext because his kext is newer that what came to my installation, changed my layout-id into 3 in my SSDT, then headphones + internal speaker now works. Now my mic doesn't work, should i modify Mirone's patcher to use layout-id of 12 instead of 3?

EDIT2: Found out that I've set the layout ID for Mirone's patcher into 12, which is the same ID on the SSDT, but the binary(?) i think is set for layout ID 3, causing the mics to not work. Setting the ID into 3 in the patcher's files and in the SSDT, patching the AppleHDA, then installing the patched file using Kext Wizard, audio doesn't work again.

Hackintoshes are fun but not reliable. People here might tell you that they're fine, but in reality, every new OS X revision requires updating your kexts and various tweaks. You'll never get it truly 100% stable like a Mac. Almost every serious hackintosh user will admit this to you.

Don't listen to a bunch of 16-year-olds and college kids--if you need to do real work, get a real Mac and play with a hackintosh in your spare time.

Or you could just buy a MacPro for less than $300 on eBay. It will still run everything perfectly. Especially if you get that PCI card to attach a SSD. Boot time is insane.

According to ioreg, audio is working. The patched AppleHDA you're using may not be a perfect match for your codec. You could try others (such as the one in the ProBook repo, AppleHDA_ProBook.kext), or you can search for another, or you can patch your own.

Also, you might not need CodecCommander.kext.

The script produced two files, AppleHDA_ProBook.kext and AppleHDAHCD_ProBook.kext. What should I do with the one with HCD?

EDIT: After installing the AppleHDA_ProBook.kext, internal speaker, line out (headphones), and internal mic now works. External mic still doesn't work. Should I also install the AppleHDAHCD_ProBook.kext?

OT: My touchpad freezes after clicking using the physical button (tapping doesn't work). I'm using your VoodooHDA.kext.

You need special patches/installation procedures to use AppleHDAHCD_ProBook.kext. Using either AppleHDA_ProBook.kext or AppleHDAHCD_ProBook.kext are mutually exclusive. You can look at the scripts to see proper installation.

You are not injecting the correct snb-platform-id for HD3000/mobile.

Remove unneeded software such as Boom. Do a fresh install if necessary. Don't clutter up your install with things you don't need until you get it working correctly (then you'll know which software to blame should it cause a problem).

Your choice of Ethernet driver is probably not the best choice (look into Mieze's driver).

As is clear in the ACPI patching guide, the "PNOT" patch should not be used when you include all OEM SSDTs.
>>
>>54591990
Bump

>"ok, will try! Thx for halp."
>>
>>54593343
The problem might be your chosen Atheros Ethernet driver. Try the one from Mieze.

Also, USB does not appear to be configured correctly. You should create a custom (SSDT) configuration for USBInjectAll.kext so that each port has the correct UsbConnector and only ports which are connected are injected.

I recommend IntelBacklight.kext instead of ACPIBacklight.kext.

Eliminate third party system software like Boom.

Try without the Bluetooth device...

Try without FakeSMC plugins.

ACPI is not patched correctly (I checked for "Darwin"... not found).
>>
Anyone done this shit on an intel nuc? NUC + OS X would be a god tier mac mini replacement.

>>54565021
Also this. Can you do it without anything from tonymac? He/They are a cunt.
>>
>>54593939
Darwin means OS Check Fix shit ..i think i forget ..i just using Magic Mouse bluetooth device ..for Ethernet driver i tried Mieze drivers No one works for me ..thats why i m using this ..
for usb seems working fine but if u said ...then how i create a custom(SSDT) configuration for USBInjectAll.kext.(i have 6 serious board ..is it necessary for 6 series board )

I do real work with mine.
>every new OS X revision
Updating 10.x.a to 10.x.b only requires waiting on the Nvidia web driver (if you use an NV card). Apart from that these work fine.

Updating 10.x to 10.y, although it should work in theory, is admittedly not recommended. I just reinstall, after waiting a while for any issues to be ironed out.

Anyway, after said kexts and tweaks are installed, everything works fine. I don't get random crashes or whatever you mean by unstable. I can rely on it to work perfectly every day.

>get a real Mac
Not as simple as that. The most powerful Apple machine is the 2013 Mac Pro; it's Ivy-E (so several generations old processor already), near-obsolete and non-upgradable GPUs, no way to add mass internal storage, etc. It's also absurdly expensive (but to be fair, it's marketed to businesses).

The other desktop Mac products use low-power CPUs and mobile graphics solutions. My total system (including some upgrades) comes in somewhere between the Mac Mini and iMac price points, and is far more capable and upgradable than either.
>>
>>54561165
I'm gonna try out OSX in a VM.
For a singular purpose.
That purpose being:
being able to help macfags that want their PC repaired. I'm a linux wizard and can into Windows, but OSX just remains a ? to me.
>>
>>54595018
I guess his definition of doing real work is using Facetime and Messages, both of which do not work on a normal hackintosh setup. In which case that sounds hilarious. I use adobe tools on a regular basis on this thing with no issues.

Hell last night I updated to 10.11.5 and none of my shit broke. None. Not even my sound drivers which I fiddled with a bit.

That's nice dear, but I can't get work done on a 13" laptop. My hackintosh is hooked up to a 27" primary, 23" secondary, and a shitty 15" tertiary that's /still/ more useful than your laptop's screen.

But have fun shitposting with ultra sharp text. Let me know when Apple starts making good, expandable, up-to-date desktop hardware.
