Most of Australia just recently got DSL. 5 years ago more than half the population were still on dialup. It was only a year ago they begun broadcasting digital television phasing out the traditional analog signal. They've been rolling out more copper lines to cope with the population demand as well since the largest ISP has a contract to supply high speed DSL exceeding 1Mbps for the next 850 years.
It really is the lucky country.

Had most of its playout done in SD and then upscaled for transmission (like GEM, News 24, 7mate, etc). It was quite rare to get a native HD broadcast on 7mate.
Even things like the AFL until last year were produced in SD by the Seven Network (even if shown on 7mate like in the eastern states).
