I've been using my MBPR 13" for about 8 months now. I don't usually use my trackpad much since I use a wireless mouse most of the time.
I tried using force click for the first time and noticed something odd whenever I press the top left corner of the trackpad. It feels heavier and firmer when I press at that corner as if there is an actual button there. I understand that the new force touch trackpad uses vibration to register each press. I even tried shutting down my MBPR 13" and pressed every sides/corner of the trackpad, the rest is flat and unresponsive but the top left corner does respond with a *click* sound.
I'm wondering if that corner is meant to be like that or is my trackpad broken/loose on the top left corner? Does Apple warranty cover minor faulty trackpad?

I've had my MBP retina 13 inch since mid 2014 and it was perfectly fine up until this Febuary. It started to crash while playing mildly intensive games and would extremely distort the video. It had red and black horizontal lines and if a sound was playing through the speakers when it crashed it would make really off sounds. Me and one of my other tech savvy friends believed it to be overheating, and for the most part that is still true. He told me to download smcFancontrok and that helped a bit. Computer would crash when it got around 125-130 F. Recently it's been getting more and more frequent, and crashing around 110 F. I use it for school and it crashes in the middle of class at least twice a day. I searched up the symptoms online and it seems to only happen to 15in and 17 in models, not 13 inch ones. It's also not covered by Apple. Could anyone help diagnose what the exact problem is with mine as well as give me an estimate of how much it will be to fix? I can't get it fixed till after next Friday because I have finals all next week.

I am using a 2 year old Macbook Pro running the latest update of OSX El Capitan.

I am experiencing a strange issue - when I move my MBP while it is running it effects the apps. Like if i'm watching Netflix in a browser and I move the computer from the table to the couch it refreshes the page or pauses the screen. I'm not touching any keys when this happens - just moving the computer.

Previous issue with this MBP also - video was causing the computer to crash. Apple replaced the motherboard. Not sure if this is connected - just thought I better include.

Hoping someone can help out!

Apple claims that OS X ignores trackpad input while typing and has removed the option to enable this. However, I just purchased a 2015 15" Retina MacBook Pro with the Force Touch trackpad and it regularly takes input while typing and the cursor jumps all over the place - I've even watched the cursor move slowly across the screen as I type.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there any way to fix it?

My MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012) Reboots and Freezes. I've had this issue for a couple years now. If I have it on a flat surface, it will run fine for a few minute, until screen glitches and it either freezes, or freezes then reboots. If I pick up it and apply a light pressure on the bottom, the screen glitches and either freezes, or freezes and reboots.

Haven't been able to use my MB. Tried to get it fixed, but they wanted $750 for a new logic board.

I didn't buy the extended AppleCare, because who knew that an Apple product would pretty much die after less than 3 years of usage.

I spot this today http://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/

It pretty much covers my problem, just not my MB.

Ridiculous.

I've been facing a weird problem over the past 4-5 months wherein, whenever I transfer (copy/paste, transfer, import) photos from any camera card (CF/ SD etc) to my late 2011 MBP, the photos get corrupted. They either develop colourful horizontal lines or the image turns completely black. I also have an iMac, and I tested out multiple combinations of card readers and data cards, and reached the conclusion that this corruption of photos happens only on my MBP irrespective of which card or card reader I use. The images get copied/ imported properly on my iMac. I am a professional photographer and this issue is directly impacting my work. I've lost images of several trips, where I carried the MBP, and on import, all photos got corrupted. (Note: the photos are visible and get copied onto the MBP, but they develop colourful lines and hence become unusable. This is not a case of photos being lost.)

Yesterday, I formatted the MBP and reinstalled El Capitan from the Apple store, however, the problem still continues.

This is very weird and frustrating. Has anyone encountered such an issue? Any possible solution?

Hello guys !

I would like to know if you have experienced this.

I have a 2012 MBP Retina.

Everything was great until some months ago, every time I open non-Safari browser, I hear a one time sound like a "spark" originating form the right side of the keyboard but underneath the keyboard. But I am unable to distinguish wether the sound comes from the speakers only.

Anyone else with this issue?

Any advice?

My good-condition, late 2012, 15" MacBook Pro running OS X 10.11.4 has fallen sick. There are two seemingly distinct issues:
During a boot, it does not get past about half-way as indicated by the grey bar. It hangs, and given time, periodically heats and revs the fans.
The screen, right from the boot, has a distinctive glitch overlaid upon it which never changes or flickers: a series of horizontal blue lines across every fourth-or-so row of pixels.
The problem began by awaking the MacBook from sleep, and it freezing. Eventually had to hard-reboot, and now we find ourselves here.

I have tried:
Booting into Recovery Mode: (holding ⌘R at boot) hangs on white screen directly after the Apple-logo-and-progress-bar screen, not much help.
Resetting the PRAM: (holding ⌥⌘PR) unfortunately has no effect.
Booting in Verbatim mode: (holding ⌘V) Still hangs, but this might provide some pointers:

In the above image, you can see the before-mentioned glitch—the blue lines. (Non-glitchin Verbatim boot is just white-on-black.)
If at all meaningful, the last line printed is always this:
en2: promiscuous mode enable succeeded
Booting in Single User mode (holding ⌘S) looks exactly like Verbatim mode, and it works fine, but I haven't tried bash-ing around with anything.
Booting in Safe mode (holding ⇧) is indistinguishable from a normal boot.
I also have a seperate partition with Windows 10 installed on the 500GB solid-state drive, but booting in Windows (by holding ⌥) leads to a similar situation: hanging on boot with a slightly more terrifying blue-line glitch, and wilder fans. Not much to see there.

Miscellaneous specs if, for some reason, helpful:
Running OS X 10.11.4
Build version: 15E65
Ram: 16GB
Processor: 2.4GHz Intel Core i7; 1 processor; total 4 cores

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone,

I own a Lenovo Thinkpad X220, and yesterday I tried to present something on the projector at school through the display adapter (not the VGA), and when I plugged it in my laptop suddenly turned off. I realized my display port was damaged, which was something I was unaware of. I unplugged the port and I tried turning it back on but the power button won't even light up, and I tried multiple methods such as the power button trick, removing the battery and running AC power only, removing my extra RAM card and other methods, but it won't turn on. However, my battery still charges as usual when I plug it in with my AC adapter. What is the problem and how can I fix it? Please help!

Thanks.

At random moments my MacBook Pro completely freezes! First the Beach Ball of Death starts showing and then everything freezes. After a couple of seconds my trackpad turns off (?): when I tap it, it doesn't make the *click* sound anymore. Everything will be frozen and I cannot move the cursor.
The only thing I can do to have it working again is to restart it by pressing down the power button.
It has happened 4 times so far and I think all of them occurred while I was using Safari (9.1). Does anyone have a solution for this?

I'm still under warranty, but if it's a software thing I'd really like to solve it myself, because I am currently graduating from college and I cannot go three weeks without the laptop.

My Thinkpad X220 displays Fan Error at bootup and shuts down. I have taken it apart. Cleaned the fan. Applied new thermal paste on CPU. I still get Fan Error.

What I am confused about is that when I press the power button - I can see the fan blades spinning at a high speed and then stop. There does not seem to be any mechanical fault with the fan, otherwise it would not spin at all.
>>
Question

There seems to be a problem with the fan on my X220 ThinkPad. It seems to always hover at about 90% capacity even if the computer is doing nothing. That would have been acceptable somewhat, except for the fact that it will spin at 90% speed (just estimating here) for 5 seconds, then rev up to 100% for 1 seconds, then down to 90% for 5 seconds, then 100% for one second. It's very irritating.

I believe this is related to the BIOS for two reasons:
1. All the professional reviews online kept mentioning how quiet the machine is. This is not quiet by any means. Perhaps their review machine had an older BIOS that did not exhibit this problem.
2. This happened during the installation of Windows as well, which, of course, does not use any drivers, so the Lenovo Power Manager is not the culprit.

Hi @ll,
i am ( meanwhile turns to "used to be" ) a big Thinkpad ( and later Lenovo ) Fan of Laptops/Notebooks. And still don't want to loose my believe in these products. But now i keep struggling more and more.
For 30 years i can call myself being an IT expert and bringing a lot of experience with me. I use my X200 so many years without any probs. Now i ONLY updated the BIOS. The system asked me for a reboot and that was the last time i had my X200 up and running. All mentioned advices from Knowledgbase from here were not successful. I start the Lenovo, The Power and sleep Leds com up and running and the screen stays black. All CMOS battery, Power buttons, external USB boot were not succesful. Then i called up Lenovo support just to see what or how they can help me. They wanted adviced me to change Mainboard and that it was usual that this BIOS update brings these probs. I should spend some 120€ without the mainboard parts. For an issue that even is not my fault ??? As this Bios Update is a known issue, it is still in the Lenovo-download section.
I am not the man to give up but now i think i am going to give up.
I am so mad about the fact that updating a BIOS lets me buying a new Notepbook/laptop.

PLEASE, if someone still has a trick for me it would be nice.
If not i will change my whole Hardware strategy.
thx 4 ur patience

G'day.

I started having an issue with my x230 thinkpad about 8 months ago. It would only turn occasionally after pressing the power button. It appeared to get worse and worse and eventually wouldn't turn on at all.

Unit is out of warranty, took it to a Lenovo authorised repair centre who couldn't find any issues with it although for some unknown reason as they were putting it back together it magically started working. The issue reared up again and now I'm back to square one.

I started troubleshooting it myself and found partial success as follows:

If I remove the battery and power cable. unplug the CMOS battery (which has been replaced) and leave it for a few minutes THEN plug only the power cable back in, it boots!

Once it has booted, I shut it down. Plug CMOS battery, main battery and power cable in and it will NOT boot.

I repeat the process of unplugging and draining power, boot with just the power cable in and it works.

Hardware Scan comes up good. HDD is tested fine. Battery has plenty of life. Unit has been very well looked after and never dropped.

Any help would be much appreciated. I'm trying to figure out whether to cut my losses or not.

Cheers

I have had my 15" MacBook Pro since october 2015 and i've always been impressed with how quietly in runs in most situations but in the past month or so if the cpu reaches anything beyond 15% usage the temperature seems to reach very hot (up to 100C) and the fans ramp up to beyond 6000rpm. I had only seen this when doing heavy editing in premiere where the CPU would be using almost all it's power, up to 90% or so, otherwise I never even heard the fans watching videos or editing pictures but now if I run anything that causes the cpu to exceed 85% idle the fans get infuriatingly loud and the temperatures stay at 80 - 90C (100C before the fans kick in)

I have the dedicated GPU model (Radeon R9 M370X) running El Capitan and I have tried doing an smc reset to no avail.

If someone knows how to fix my problem it would be a godsend because the fans are driving me mad. normal web surfing and even watching mp4s on my system, the fans are at a steady 2000-3000rpm and i can't hear them but internet videos, gaming etc cause the fans to go to 6000rpm. there's no inbetween between silence and jet taking off!

Hello, all. New to the forum. I have a ThinkPad X120e (0596-2RU) with Windows 7 and the display adapter (AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics). Whenever the
-CPU is placed to sleep with a youtube video in pause and I replay it after I cut it on again
-when I am using internet explorer (when I watch videos or not)
the screen will go black and at the bottom it will say "display driver stopped responding and has fully recovered". If I watch a video again after this, it takes me to a blue screen. I know this is a popular problem but no one online has exact answers for x120e computers. So can anyone please help me with this!!??

Macbook Pro NOT for Video Editing and Rendering

I'm a Video/Film Editor. I have Macbook Pro early 2011, which I used to edited and rendered video everyday. And one day my Macbook VGA got distorted, like the other 2011 Mac else. I when to Apple Service Provider. They respond very well, and my Macbook got repaired. Today I took my Macbook from Apple Service, and what they said it's very shocked me. "Don't use your Mac for rendering, it's not built for that. You will brake your machine, eventhough it's MacbookPro . You can only use them for preview and watch movies. If you're a video editor, you better choose iMac or MacPro".
I choose MacbookPro for the portability and I travelled much. I mean come on, if Macbook machine is only built for previewing video only I'd rather use Macbook Air.
One thing that shocking me much is, it's coming from the guy who works for Apple Service Provider.
I would like to get opinions from the video editor who owned and use Macbook Pro for work from a long time. Did MacbookPro has been satisfying you? and how do you think about the Apple guy said that to me? >:(

I've had my macbook pro 2015 for about a month now and have encountered an array of problems, which hasn't filled me with hope from making the jump from windows to mac.

The first and most annoying one is that whilst browsing the internet on safari and chrome (I tried both) the whole computer freezes the mouse won't move/click the only option is powering it down. This has happened whilst I was constructing this message.

The second is that it will randomly drop wifi and not connect to certain networks, which is usually coupled with a complete freeze.

The specs are here:
Early 2015 MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch
OSX Yosemite 10.10.3
2.7ghz Intel i5 CPU

Same issue here. Seems to happen while browsing in Safari. Mouse freezes and then the trackpad fails to "click" after a few seconds. The only option is a hard power down. The first time it happened an Excel file I was working on was corrupted and permanently lost. Hopefully this will get fixed in a software update.
>>
I have the exact same issue. Apple has replaced the logic board and the hard drive but it hasn't solved anything. Has anyone found a fix for this yet?
>>
>>54530601
I have the same problem. It is reassuring to know that it might not be the logic board, but I still really want a fix. My macbook is freezing once or twice a day.

I don't understand how a router could make your computer freeze though? Can anybody explain how that works?
>>
>>54530670
Also having the issue of it freezing periodically, but I'm guessing from your post that they won't find anything obvious at the genius bar. I've experienced it different places, so I'm also guessing it's unrelated to the router. Anyone get any resolution to this?
>>
>>54530692
Maybe in some cases, but not mine. I dont even have flash installed and it also freezes up When I run out office and other random times. There's no kernel panic in the logs either, which as far as I know implies a hardware issue that the native hardware check isn't picking up.

Please try this experiment for me:
The next time it freezes, do not touch the trackpad (every gesture would make it worse), and just wait for 5-15 minutes and see if it would recover.
In my case when it freezes, macbook is able to recover some time later, after that it works extremely laggy, but it is good enough to save all my files and reboot it cleanly.

I bought my parents a 2015 Macbook Pro 15" last year. It has never had any 3rd party software installed other than printer drivers.

Whenever they close the lid to put it to sleep for more than a few minutes the UI becomes unresponsive and has to be restarted. The mouse pointer can be moved around but clicking does nothing. The built in keyboard is disabled.

I turned off "power nap" which failed to fix the problem.

The only non-standard thing that is configured is that I have their machine running with the built-in screen scaled so they can see it better.

I know there are other threads reporting similar problems but none seemed to offer working solutions except a few that involved VMWare or bluetooth devices, which are not an issue here.

Any ideas? This is truly maddening given how basic their use of the computer is.

I Have a 2014 Macbook Pro. A few months ago it started to randomly shut down and things progressively got worse. Doing first aid on disk utility initially worked but it was only a temporary fix. Eventually i thought it was kaput.

As suggested by Apple I got a new bracket and also changed my hard drive. Although initially buggy it was successful, my MacBook worked fine and I upgraded to the latest OS. However, now the previous problems have come back. It freezes 1/4 through start up, and even disk utility can't help the problem. I can't start up my Mac now. The screen goes weird with distorted colour and yellow outline around the apple logo.

Please help!!!

I have a 13" Retina Macbook Pro
I noticed that when using google maps satellite view (no matter if in Safari or other browser) my Mac begins to heat up REALLY quickly up to 102 Celsius degrees (I use https://www.seense.com/menubarstats/ to measure CPU temp and fan speed, but even without any app you can easily feel the high temp and hear the fan blowing) The fan also begins to blow at maximum speed. When I quit the site everything comes back to normal.
Same thing happens when I view the Flyover in Maps.app. When I quit the temp drops down to normal.
I can compare the situation to my one-year-older MacBook Air and I don't have any of these problems on it. Strange as both of Mac have only integrated GPUs. Any idea what can cause the heat up? Is dealing with satellite view or 3d building so demanding for rMBP but not for older MBA? Both on the newest version of ElCap

Purchased a brand new Macbook Pro 2015 from the Apple Store in Melbourne, Victoria less than a week ago.

Have installed nothing but Microsoft Office on the computer yet it freezes at least twice a day, even when just Safari is open.

What do I do? After being a Mac user for over a decade, this is completely unacceptable - isn't this one of the major reasons why we all buy Mac's, because of their so-called reliability?

i went to turn my MacBook Pro on this morning and the screen was black but it was still on. I left it for a while and the screen came up with os Mavericks and whether I wanted to reinstall.

I bought MacBook Pro 15" Retina 512gb literally yesterday. I have only downloaded the League of legends game app. I've closed all the other apps (EVEN SAFARI) during a game. I've also set the graphics to the lowest graphics setting and tried to play windowed mode instead of full screen. I've done all of this and YET the game lags very much it freezes for 2-5 seconds and then refreshes. As I said I set graphics to low quality and resolution to a minimum. I've checked the activity monitor in utilities and there's nothing else over 1% of CPU. PLEASE HELP ME! My old Samsung PC ran the game better than this and I thought MacBooks wouldn't have this problem considering the MacBook I have!

Similar to the other topic, my MBP started to freeze in random time intervals, mostly when browsing the web. Typically I keep ~20 tabs open in my browser.

i got the early 2015 macbook pro retina for about 3 weeks now and ever since around the 1st week onwards, it started to freeze/crash very frequently (once every other day at first, but now seems to be once a day)

force touch trackpad stops working anymore meaning it doesn't make the clicking vibration
keyboard/hotkeys won't work either like Command-Option-Esc to force quit, etc.
cursor can't be moved as well.
also, i don't really encounter the loading rainbow wheel. everything on the screen freezes.

the only thing i'm left to do is to force reboot which is to hold the power button for like several seconds and then i turn it back on.

other than taking it to the apple store, what else could i do? i actually just bought this online (and not from the official apple website) and i'm running on El Capitan 10.11.4 (it was 10.11.1 when i got it and i just updated but i'm not entirely sure if it also froze when i used the 10.11.1 version). i thought it only freezes when i'm on safari so i downloaded chrome, but it still froze while i used that browser. most of the time it freezes when i'm watching youtube videos or facebook (but then again i can't conclude anything since that's basically all that i do with this macbook)

This problem started yesterday. I use an Imac and a macbook pro, and I was using my laptop when the trackpad stopped working. It was responding but the cursor was moving slowly. I decided to use my mouse and everything was fine. I thought it was just a little problem and I could figure it out later if it continued to not work. This morning I opened up my laptop and it was fine for a little bit, then the cursor went crazy. It was like my cursor was just running around and doing random gestures, opening random things. My applications were fine, but the cursor was just going around and opening them. It was very random, so I didn't think anyone was controlling my computer.

I did have control of my cursor but it wasn't completely responding. I tried shutting it down, putting it to sleep, etc. Nothing worked. I then decided to just turn it off for an hour and when I reopened it, it was fine. After a few minutes it went crazy again. I think my battery might be swollen, I don't know. Apple decided to use the smalled screws in the world so I can't open the back off, can anyone please tell me what's going on? I'm taking it to the apple store tomorrow but I want to figure out what's wrong first.

I have a (Retina, 13-inch) Macbook Pro from early 2015 that keeps randomly freezing. By that I mean that the screen freezes when I'm browsing on safari, or when I'm coding, etc... and also the trackpad and keyboard stop working.
I can't move the cursor (and it stays the same, it doesn't change to the beachball) and the trackpad gives no feedback whatsoever, I stop being able to "feel" the clicks.
This started happening some time after I updated to El Capitan, and now It freezes on me about once a day or every other day.

Recently my MacBook Pro has started shutting itself down (battery dying) without giving me so much as a warning. It happens at around 40-50% battery, and it completely dies, all unsaved work is gone. Even pressing the battery indicator on the side does not light up.

When I plug it back in, it still says it has as much percent left as when it died.

It has not "gradually" started doing this - it just spontaneously shut down one day and has been doing it ever since, for almost a week and a half now. I've tried resetting the PRAM and SMC to no avail. I haven't tried erasing and restoring, and I will only do that as a last resort.

Why is this happening?

On my Macbook Pro 15" Non-Retina 2012 I've been having some strange WiFi issues over the last couple of days.

The WiFi turned off and wouldn't turn back on after sleep. When I removed it from the Networks list it said there was no WiFi hardware installed.

Booting into the startup options shows the WiFi card is still working (although not every time) and when it successfully connects there it boots into the system with WiFi working again however this lasts for less than a minute before WiFi disables and won't turn on again.

Clearly the WiFi card is working as it shows the networks in the startup options and sometimes connects.

Anyone able to suggest something I can try?

Screen Shot 2016-05-01 at 1.19.42 AM.png
I have tried going into the settings and turning it back on but when I click the "Turn On" button nothing happens.
The only way I can get it to work again is to restart my laptop.. but this fix only lasts few minutes
Why is this happening? Is it a software error? I really want to get it fixed.. It's really annoying!

I bought computer in April of 2014 and had a year warranty for it. The computer, for the first couple of months was fine but suddenly around October of 2014 it didn't recognize any WiFi networks. I called immediately and since I was under warranty, they had an assistant fix my computer. This assistant fixed my computer so recklessly that the computer was falling apart at the sides and the screws were falling out. I called Dell again and they said that they would help assist me over the phone. My warranty was almost over so I asked if another assistant could come. They said they would first assist me over the phone before resulting to such "drastic measures". I then figured that I would put the screws in myself, they fell out again the following week, leaving my laptop without screws. I couldn't find them. I called Dell again asking if they could fix my computer, they said that since my warranty was up, they could no longer offer me their services for free. For months, I was looking for screws that would fit my computer. I couldn't find any. After a year of my computer constantly cracking and coming off the edges, the screen finally cracked off the edge.... leaving me with no WiFi access. I believe that since I have been such a faithful Dell customer, I should recieved better customer service than this. I called again telling them that my computer is no longer useful because of their poor customer service. They said that there was nothing they could do. This angers me because there was something they could have done while I was still under warranty, however they put my needs on hold.

I bought a Dell Inspiron from Microsoft. Its been nothing but problems with Dell support since I purchased it. There is a battery issue that Dell released to customers and third party sellers on Twitter. Customers were told to update Bios and that would fix the issue. Well, it didn't. I contacted Dell Tech Support and was transferred to Dell Customer Care so that this could be recalled. Customer Care told me that Tech Support found an answer to my issue and wanted to talk to me about it. So I was transferred to Tech Support and that wasn't true. I think the Dell Inspirons need to be recalled as customers that are purchasing them brand new are having problems.
>>
My Dell XPS 2710 AIO computer has been having issues with a complete non-working system due to black screen issues. Dell is well aware of these issues and has basically refused to help its customers that own this system. The have refused to develop drivers as well as support unless customers pay for an extended warranty which I did last year (which I shouldn't have had to do for a hardware issue that is the fault of Dell 100%). It is sad that customers are being left in the dark about extremely faulty hardware in this particular computer and then force them to buy a warranty. More importantly this has now happened to me multiple times and now it has happened for a third time. Again Dell has no parts or anything available to replace in these models and are not sure if or when they can get the parts. Even if they had the parts, what will happens is that a tech will replace the main board and then a month or two later your computer will again have the same hardware issues leaving you stuck once again. I am tired of dealing with these issues and as you can see online, there are over 100 pages of complaints on multiple forums between Dell and Microsoft and still Dell takes no responsibility nor helps their customers with these expensive systems. Dell is 100% at fault here and it is high time they take responsibility especially as a company that has an A+ rating with the BBB.

I'm a 10.4 man myself though.

Since I'm going to be throwing money away anyways, should I buy a macbook pro, or a Razer Blade?

What stand do you use for your laptop?
>>
>>54539633
Why?
>>
>>54539626
one costs 50% less and has better hardware.
you decide.
>>
>>54539626

Have you been paying attention? Have you ever noticed what seems to happen to all these ambitious "gamer" products? Overmarketed, overpriced, typically foregoing QC in favor of a dozen more multicolored LEDs? Razer has been especially guilty of that with their keyboards, their mice, and even their Android TV box. I'm not sure why you'd trust them with your computing itself.

Get the Macbook Pro. You won't be disappointed. I own a Macbook Air, and literally my only complaint about it is that it can't be my only computer because it's not powerful enough. My complaint, essentially, is that it's not the Macbook Pro.
>>
>>54539667
It's not a Razer product and runs a better OS.

If you don't own both, GTFO.

If you do, you'd agree the Razer is a much better value for the price, and has better build quality.

Putting aside the fact that you cannot get a Macbook pro with 970m-tier graphics, a desktop-class i7, or an IGZO multitouch display. They literally do not exist.

I can toss whatever I want on it though.

I've actually had some really good luck with razer shit, especially my mouse which has lasted me since '13, and the keyboard since '14
>>
>>54539740
>Putting aside the fact that you cannot get a Macbook pro with 970m-tier graphics, a desktop-class i7
Why should I care? I would pay a premium to not have such components in my laptop.

>>54539747
>I can toss whatever I want on it though.
Can't toss vanilla OS X on a not Mac.
>>
>>54539673

>better hardware

You know why some people have Macs? It's because those people have come to the realization that the numbers on the spec sheet are completely irrelevant at this point, and the only thing that matters is how well the computer functions in practice, its fit and finish, and its support network. Apple stands at the top of all of those.

>>54539740
>970m-tier graphics, a desktop-class i7

>muh specs, these totally matter!

Specs are irrelevant. Only the user experience is relevant. If you're playing video games, you shouldn't be getting a 13" laptop anyway.
>>
>>54539771
>Specs are irrelevant.
from advice to bait in record time
>>
>>54539798

What's more important: an extra 400 niggerwatts of processing power, or the computer not foisting trialware and janky half-baked drivers on you out of the box?
>>
>>54539771
>You know why some people have Macs?
because "some people" are what we call "hipsters," and macs are a perfectly-engineered meme designed to take their money.

...that is literally the only reason. And speaking as someone who owns a shitload of apple stock, I'd still never buy an apple product. Just like drug dealers wouldn't get high, cupertino knows that shit is for suckers.
>>
>>54539808
>the computer not foisting trialware and janky half-baked drivers on you out of the box?
no such software exists on a Razer system, they ship with stock unaltered windows 8 or 10.

Razer doesn't even have any paid software so the "trialware" argument is nonsensical
>>
>>54528092
>mac pro
My nigger.
>>
>>54539833

>doesn't even have any paid software

They don't need to own it to be paid to preload it.

I guarantee you Razer's drivers either are janky now or will be janky at some point in the future when Microsoft patches something and Razer decides not to keep up. That's what happens when the OS vendor and the hardware vendor are separate.
>>
>>54539673
>better hardware
What's better hardware anyway?
>>
>>54527403
Proof macfags can't even take proper pictures.
>>
>>54539897
>i didn't notice the joke

>>54539853
>Razer's drivers

I think that's the thing you're not understanding here m8

a (non-mac) laptop is made up of OEM components, the same that could be bought and used to build any other brand of laptop. The drivers are provided by the manufacturers of those parts, not the company building the system.

There are no "razer drivers" because there's no "razer hardware." None of your drivers are developed or digitally signed by "razer", the system vendor, just like none would be developed by "dell" or "hp". Of course Razer provides you with drivers pre-installed, but the hardware is generic. Updates to your nvidia card come from nVidia, updates to your intel chipset come from intel, and so on. All of these companies indeed work very closely with OS vendors (Microsoft and *nixes) to ensure mutual compatibility and product lifecycle.

>core 2 duo thinkpads are better
>>
Heh, gayzer.

Seriously don't compare that trash to an Apple.
>>
>>54539906

I do understand that. Don't talk down to me.

I also understand, though, that OEMs tend to make their drivers available in a central repository or directory, and/or provide a mechanism for updating said drivers. This is how most people are familiar with updating their drivers.

Without that central repository, people are forced to resort to chasing down a pile of different drivers from half a dozen different websites, guessing at which exact revision of the chipset or w/e they have, downloading it, waiting forever because the site throttles the downloads, installing it, clicking through a bunch of mostly unintelligible Engrish prompts and license agreements, rebooting their computer, and praying to Stallman that they got the right fucking installer, because if they didn't, they're about to do this all over again.

It's a fucking dumb, ass-backwards way to manage what should be a commodity device at this point.

You know what's funny? People like me used to be people like you. I was just like you once, reveling in the "cheaper", "better" computers I was getting while the Macfags squatted in their own piled-up shit. Then I got bit one too many times by my pain-in-the-ass race-to-the-bottom Windows laptop, and I decided to try something different, and I never looked back.

Not your personal support. X200 is old as fuck, buy a newer one i.e x220 for $200

It expert? Ever heard if it aint broke dont touch it?
>>
I find current Macs to be crap and "muh thinness" machines for retards. Older macs however look kinda cool, would like to own a older MacBook Pro or a PowerMac G5 or something old which still can run some OS X at least.

Why Apple has gone to shit?
