How does /g/ secure their homes when you're away? I may be moving to a neighborhood with a higher crime index than my current one, so I was looking for a decent solution without being tethered to a 3 year lease and a monthly payment. I'm open to diy solutions as well if it'll save me money, plus I like getting my hands dirty.
Also general security thread, I haven't seen on on /g/ before.

I live in rural iowa methtown, and I just keep all of my blinds closed at all times and leave enough shit in the yard that I look like white trash as well, makes me less of a target (at least I think) and no one has fucked with my shit yet

Window locks, make sure they work and can't be forced

A little bit a both and a dash of cholos as well. The place is actually in San Bernardio, so it's pretty populated. I'm a nog myself, so I'm not worried about when I'm actually there, I just can't watch my place 24/7 unless I go full NEET mode.
