My guess is you have an 8GB module and a 4GB module? Swap them around and make sure they run in dual channel. Also clean the pins with a microfiber cloth.
If on laptop just do the same.

If you're using 1x4gb and 1x8gb you're a complete moron, and it's probably best off using this "8GB" configuration so you get dual channel. Socket AM3+ already has shitty memory bandwidth, you fucking up your build doesn't help things

Take one of the sticks out and make sure it's running dual channel. It'll perform better than having 8gb in over 12gb, because with 3 sticks your memory bandwidth is cut in half.
