Owners of mechanical keyboards - would you recommend them?
>>
Yes, my buckling spring keyboard is the second best peripheral I've ever bought
>>
>>54495762
>would you recommend them
Of course they would. It's called post-purchase rationalization´.
>>
>>54495793
nice meme
>>
>>54495762
Yes
>>
>>54495762
Yes. It feels like sex for your fingertips
>>
SSD > Screen > Mech
Is really the hierarchy of what your should have before getting a mechanical keyboard
>>
>>54495762
I would and i do
>>
>>54495762
Does your current keyboard suck?
I'm talking about your keys getting stuck or something. Mechanical keyboards are more reliable and stuff, but a good rubber dome keyboard isn't that bad.
>t. anon who owns a 6Gv2 for like a year now
>>
>>54495762
Yeah but they got kind of expensive. IMO, there were great keyboards getting down to $45 or less in 2015, that part of the market seems to have been eliminated.

With minimal compromise you can get a good mech on sale if you watch techbargains/Slickdeals, but if you're really dedicated to a particular keyboard for its feature set then you might spend more.

Avoid razer shit, they started using knockoff cherry switches.
>>
>>54495762
Regretted spending so much at first, i alternate between mech at home and rubber dome at work, after a while i realised how much i prefer my mech. There are some cheap chinese mechs on amazon now that are a price i would rather have paid, wanna pick one up for use at work now
>>
>>54495793
I own one
>>54495762
Not really

Cherry, black switches, o-rings
feels like every other keyboard I owned before

easier to clean and stuff of course but not worth 90€ a piece
might not have to buy a new one every now and then like with a cheap keyboards but the difference is only noticable if you have severe autism
>>
>>54496459
There is a difference between Cherry MX Black switches and a rubber dome keyboard.
The actuation height is in the middle of the travel distance on blacks, and rubber domes require bottoming out.
>>
Look up the CK104 for a riced out RGB LED blue clone (clicky) that'll only set you back 50 burgers.
I got mine from gearbest, but they have the slowest shipping ever.
>>
>>54496570
I type fast and hard, so no difference for me anyway
I didn't change my style because I got a mech keyboard
typed like 15 years on rubber shit like this, why would I only press the button to the actuation height? I press the buttons down till they stop, no matter what kind of keyboard
>>
>>54496636
My keyboard also has each row of keys profiled, so I don't have to move my fingers as much.
>>
>>54495887
I already got both, ssd and Screen; and my keyboard it's comming.
Whats next?
>>
>>54496636
You're tiring out your fingers that way. Even on a rubber dome, there's a bit of an activation depth. The difference is that the dome collapses and takes the key with it but fundamentally they are the same in that you don't have to press the full keystroke.
>>
no they're shit
>>
>>54496700
install gentoo
>>
>>54495762
no. they're hard to press and gave me tendinitis
>>
>>54496815
Try not bottoming out and lighter switches.
>>
>>54496843
I tried learning how not to bottom out, and eventually kind of got decent at it, but it wasn't how I wanted to type. I just don't think mechanicals are for me.

was using cherry browns, for reference
>>
The cheaper ones are worth it, >100$ is just frivolous for what you're getting.

If you hate money I certainly would
>>
>>54495762
I have Cherry Brows, which are babby's first switch and shit according to mkg, but I enjoy typing on it a lot more as compared to my rubber dome keyboard. The sound and feeling is just comfy as fuck.
>>
>>54495762
If you actually play competitively, then yes. If you play Starcraft at a GM level you should have a mechanical keyboard. It really does make a slight difference and it is nicer on your hands.
Also if you type a lot, then it is good to use, it was invented for this reason as far as I know.
>>
>>54497077
Brown seems to be good. That's what I want. I bought Thr steelseeries red, but it was way to sensitive for me. Misclicked a lot since my hands kept touching the other keys just enough to make them go off. Blue just seems to noisy and black seems to be the cheapest and worst.
Brown seems to be the nice middleground
>>
>>54495762
I use to own one I would recommend a rubber dome, cheaper and it hasn't broken on me I honestly feel that the keys lasting longer is probably just marketing. I like high profile keys so I bought a Lenovo keyboard for me it is the best of both worlds rubber dome plus the high profile keys.
>>
What I don't understand is why there is a big cult around these keyboards.

Even if it is great, it is still just a keyboard with ancient technology.
>>
>>54498791
This, tee bee h.

My rubber dome Logitech is going on 16 years.

But I also have a Model M that I haven't used in years.
>>
>>54498810
They're nice to use, and really fucking customizable. If you like to tinker you'll feel right at home.
>>
>>54497016
What do you need 6 keyboards for? Youre the kind of person shills are here for you know.
>>
>>54499001
I don't need 6 boards for anything. I don't even need a mechanical keyboard, I just got these over the span of about a year because I quite enjoy this hobby.

Especially the DIY aspect. Two of the boards in that picture are hand-wired, I'm planning to mod the quuckfire TK once I have the time.

Not to mention that I already have plans for my next two keyboards (which will also be DIY, because making shit yourself is fun).

It's a literal meme. Not like /g/'s definition of meme, but like it's an over hyped product aimed towards a very, very niche group.

I bought a QFR with Cherry MX Blues in December last year. I couldn't get over how nice it was the first week or two I had it, but over time I stopped caring and got used to "muh feels". I can live without the click clacks and code just fine.

It's not some godsend improvement like jumping from a lower resolution to 4K on a monitor. My typing speed is the same on every keyboard I use. HOWEVER, it makes a fuck ton of difference in playing trigger-happy video games like osu! or CS:GO. I can't imagine myself playing anything without a mechanical keyboard now.

So basically yes if you're autistic, play games, type a lot and have spare money. No otherwise.
>>
Bought a new keyboard because my old one um. Broke.

Spilled coffee in it.

Anyway, new one showed up, turns out buying stuff that gets good reviews means you get meme hardware and it was mechanical.

It's alright. Bit loud. I don't understand the hype around the things but it's not bad. My old keyboard was a rubber membrane (Saitek Eclipse II), had that for quite a few years, it was comfy. New one feels kinda cold and sterile. Suppose it might become comfy eventually.

Don't listen to the daskey plebs, they'll pay a $100 premium just so their key caps don't have letters on them

Meanwhile, you can get a Corsair K70 with an aluminum frame, raised keys so you can clean it super easy with optional gam3r LEDs for $80 manufacturer refurbished
>>
>>54499842
>Corsair K70
Holy fuck, I'll pay a $100 premium to not have to use that ricer bullshit
>>
>>54499842
Funnily enough, both daskeyboard and corsair keyboards are shit and you shouldn't buy either
>>
Only if you have money to waste on the "feel" of the keyboard. I love mechanical keyboards but it isn't a huge deal.

Why? You can get a K70 with brown/red/blue Cherry switches

It's definitely the most premium feeling mechanical keyboard on the market, and it's one of the cheapest when you look for sales.
>>
>>54499937
It's a bad thing to want a keyboard that doesn't look like ass?

I fail to see the issue here.

You can even get it in a light silver aluminum frame if you don't like the gunmetal grey.

Colour has nothing to do with it, it's just a disgusting design.

Non-standard bottom row (good luck replacing those shit thin ABS keycaps) and corsair is known for dead LEDs and other issues.

Not to mention that the design screams GAYMEN all over the place. Get a non-backlit cooler master if you want something with quality on a budget (made by Costar, same OEM that produces filcos).
>>
Not really. It's nice I guess, but I don't mind using my rubber dome keyboard at all.

I enjoy the aesthetics of mechanical keyboards more than the typing experience.
>>
>>54495762
Of course I would. Typing on one of my mechanicals is much more enjoyable than a rubber dome, hence why I use them.

That being said, I can understand people not wanting to spend the money on them if they aren't typing a lot day to day.
>>
Depends, if you have the extra money and are looking for a good keyboard they ain't bad. But honestly I can't really justify buying one if you're fine with a normal keyboard.
