first for browns love
Ayyy
>>54485294
Browns need love thanks.
I'm torn between gateron yellows, blacks, and cherry clears. Sometimes I hate being a keyboard autist.
>>54485522
Out of all of those I recommend the clears. They are like the improved browns.
First for reds love
>>54485535
How do you use that desk with that gawkly cable misfit, with wood that will literally give you splinters. Jesus dude fix your shit.
>>54485535
I'll be trying them out when I get my wasd switch sampler thing. There's just too much to chose from.
>>54485573
Man I sanded the desk and stained it. Then clear coated everything. SO no really issues just cut those holes recently is all.
I found back my keyboard from my first computer, and it feels comfy as fuck, however the plug looks like that and on my current computer I only have USB ports.
Would any of you have an idea if possible on how to connect it again? (pic of the keyboard incoming)
>>54485619
This is the keyboard I'm talking about.
>>54485619
If I had to guess an active ps2 to usb converter should work.
Reminder that greentexting links is stupid

AT to USB adapter is your answer
>>54485619
it's a DIN 5 plug
aren't you lucky
my ancient model m has a din5 with a 240° pin configuration
yours is easy enough
>>54485652
It doesn't seem to be possible alas
People paid $22.95 for pic related.
https://www.lucidcases.com/
Is this rare?
>>54485690
thanks for the info, researches will be easier with the name of the plug
>>54485710
Is that a din connector? If so im not to familiar with making it work but I would assume there is adapters.
>>54485710
I had one just like that. It came with a din - ps2 adapter so I know they exist.
This is my primary keyboard right now, it has MX Clears. The other one I like to use is a 60%, but that's not why I like using it. It's because it has MX Green switches. I don't love the click, but I love the weight needed to depress the keys. Are there any switches that take the bump of the clears and the stiffness of the greens and work them together harmoniously?
>>54485690
>>54485745
>>54485765
Apparently, if I get a adapter DIN5 to PS/2, and then an active PS/2 to USB adaptater, it _may_ work, hopefully it’ll work. I’ll see if I can get these, if it works I’ll let you guys know.

>>54485814
yeah that will probably work
Hey guys, nitwit here
I used to be a semi-professional gamer (as in i wasn't but i could keep up with actual pro's) and everybody i knew would make fun of me for using a shitty ass $5 keyboard
It just felt so comfy though, whenever I would try their supposedly top-notch mechanical keyboards they just felt cold and hard and wasn't operate to flow over the keyboard smoothly
Seeing as my dear relic has died recently, I'm looking for a replacement. I have been thinking about investing into a good mechanical keyboard.
I just want one with a really soft touch really. Like I push buttons without actually have to give them a "push". That's what my old keyboard provided me, I haven't experienced a mechanical keyboard that has been able to give me that same sensation.
Any of you guys have any ideas?
>>54485865
Cherry MX Red Switches are probably going to be what you are looking for.
i've got a B.Face that i built with 80g zealios (custom spring) and an acrylic case, but the RGB underlights don't work and also a couple of the backlights under the keys. how much do you reckon i could sell it for in this condition?
>>54485893
Thanks a bunch, I'll go look into them
Just bought the Infinity ErgoDox with mx blues.

What board is this? It looks great!
>>54485282
Who here /towelunderkeyboard/?
Is it a bad idea to bring a mechanical keyboard to work?
>>54487266
obviously it depends on the switch type
Try your kickstands. You might just like them.
>>54485783
I believe stiff tactiles would be Tactile Greys, which are unfortunately quite rare and aren't used in making mainstream boards. If you search around the interwebs you might be able to find them in bulk, otherwise you would have to manually replace the springs in your clears for stiffer ones
>>54487279
i would take one i like, but it's not going to turn out well for it
instead i bought a unicomp with a cover

I am sure people do.

So I have a dilemma, on my Das Keyboard Model S Professional, the numpad 789 and + only work if the top frame over the pcb is pulled out of the keyboard. It's off warranty, and I didn't break anything taking it apart. I'm not sure what part of the frame is causing the problem exactly, so I'm hesitant to cut anything.

Hello friend!
What you have is an DIN port.
Pardon the American amazon links, but this is what I use and it works for me:
http://www.amazon.com/SANOXY-PS2-Keyboard-USB-Adapter/dp/B000BSJFJS
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Keyboard-Converter-Adapter-Din5f/dp/B000067RBR
The main thing to make sure is that your USB-PS2 adapter is ACTIVE.

PSA-
Skip over all the shitboards and just get the endgame Topre. I wish I was memeing but I'm serious, I wish I bought this years ago instead of going through all the shitty cherry/buckling cuck/dick alps.
With that said, buckling is the only acceptable alternative to topre. Everything else belongs in a museum.
>>54488525
What makes it better?
> $50-$150
> Southeast Asia
> Cherry MX Brown Switches
> ANSI Layout
> 60%-80% Form Factor
> Can do with/without LEDs
> Currently using a barely functioning laptop keyboard.
Any suggestions?
>>54488525
What weight switches do you recommend?
>>54488624
Not the person you're responding to, but I use 55g and love it. Most Topre boards only come in 45g though.
>>54488624
45g if you're used to browns or something lighter, 55g otherwise. Both are good really, just get whatever is closer to a weight you're used to.
>>54488602
Smoothest keystrokes of anything alive, ACTUALLY tactile feeling unlike browns, it's nice and quiet compared to cherry alternatives. I'd also accept ergo clears but that's a whole lot of work.
>>54488695
I live in Japan and can probably get any model. What are the best for full keyboard with numpad?
>>54488714
You reminded me of that family I stayed with while I was in Japan. Maybe I should ask them to send me a Topre.
>>54488525
i have 3 topre boards and i dont use any of them
it's completely subjective
>>54488714
idk senpai, you're the gook, you're supposed to know more about these than we do. Just get a realforce :^)
Are these Topre Realforce any good? It seems they change the weight of the key depending on the location which is kind of neat.
>>54488617
pok3r?
>>54488800
Ok I think I will. The other option is the Type Heaven which uses 45g for every key. I'll just go to a shop and try them out since there are lots of places with mk demo units.
>>54488695
I'm >>54488668
I came from Browns to 55g and love it. It can get tiring to type on this if typing intensely for a very long time, but this virtually never happens to me.
I still wouldn't call them quiet enough for the office unless you get a silenced Type S board, but they are much quieter than anything Cherry MX. After using this, all Cherry MX switches feel cheap, browns feel like reds with dirt in them (i.e. not tactile), and the PBT keycaps that came with my Realforce feel heavenly compared to ABS.
>>54488714
The only Topre boards I know of that are full-sized with a numpad are the Realforce 104 series. The 104 UW and UB (White and Black) both have variable weighted switches on the keys, with 45g switches around the index fingers, going down to about 35g around the pinkies, and a single 55g on the escape key. Most people find that they're awkward for gaming, but work fine for typing. I haven't tried this myself.
The 104UG HiPro however, is uniform 45g, and has special elevated, curved, keycaps, which you may or may not like. Do note that due to the different switch housings used, you can't replace the keycaps with anything else, and putting the keycaps on a different topre board will work but be wobbly. I also have not tried this keyboard myself.
If you're made of money, you could theoretically buy one board with the springs you want (such as a Realforce 87U 55g) and transplant the springs into a fullsize board like a 104UW.
For the record, Realforce keyboards are seriously some of the, if not the, most well built keyboards ever made; though I've never had the opportunity to try smashing one against a Model M/F. They're extremely solid feeling and have a great metal backplate inside of them.
>>54488885
>The only Topre boards I know of that are full-sized with a numpad are the Realforce 104 series
>>54488837
>Topre Type Heaven
Right right I'm silly, scratch that. There's also the option of the Topre Type Heaven, which is a normal, uniform 45g board.
Is pok3r keyboard good stuff?
How good will the 1976 keycaps look on a magicforce?
>>54489467
yeah
>>54489532

Any one familiar with Romer-g switches? I really itching to give them a go.
I've taken into consideration buying some keycaps. Maybe some dark blue ones.

You may find a favorite keyboard, but there's always more stuff to try out. I thought I had reached endgame for at least a few months with the HHKB, and about two months later I got a chinkboard to fit my gaterons.
Next up is a clueboard, and putting my gateron blacks in that quickfire TK. Maybe I'll get a realforce if I get a keyboard-heavy internship next autumn.

>>54490756
I own a realforce 55g and a unicomp model M, I have also tried cherry and razer switches. Out of the three I think topre is definitely the best. With that said, it is shit value for money compared to the other options.

Watch out for the bottom row, those keys are not standard sized so not all sets will fit them.

Last I opened it, the PCB does allow for a standard bottom row. If the plate does too, then you're good to go, otherwise you'll have to have to cut some holes in the plate for the switches to be placed properly.
>>54492672
>Watch out for the bottom row
I may be overlooking something, but that bottom row looks quite standard to me.

Moving the actuation point is all that clones have to do. With all the new competition, a higher actuating fucking Red is their answer? German engineering my ass.

Brown or Blue? Is Leopold good?
I've used 10$ keyboards whole life and just decided to check if non-gaming mechs are sold locally and how much they cost. Ended up on some specialized website where I found Leopold FC660M being sold at old dollar rate (prices on most tech almost doubled last year in Russia). So is it worth getting or it's better to invest more money (like x2) and time to get Topre, which most people seem to enjoy here?
>>54500036
Leopold makes good keyboards, but that right shift is non-standard and may make finding aftermarket keycaps a pain.
Though they do come with PBT caps.

No compromise on the browns? The cherry g84 4100 has ml switches that are pretty nice and is in your price range.

I hate both. Blue sucks for gaming because the rest point is higher than the actuation point. Browns feel like shitty reds.

Best MX switch hands down IMO, having used reds, blues, browns, and blacks. Especially with these low profile keys on the Cherry MX-board 3. It's like typing on air.
Should I grab a Classic 104 from Unicomp or get an authentic model M? If Model M, can someone shoot me a link, can't seem to find any under 70 bucks on e-bay, without being in trash condition and missing keycaps.

>>54493436
That's not even the same keyboard. Beyond the other obvious differences, your first clue should have been that you don't have a fucking numpad and he does.
>>54508210
American International input mode:
For the ñ, do Shift+` (ª in Spanish ISO), then. N, for other dead keys, it's the same as with the Spanish keyboard: ' + A = Á, and so on.
To get standard ', just press '+space. Also Alt Gr + letters will usually give you the Spanish variant (Alt Gr+O gives ó).
>>54506575
Don't make any mistakes
>>54508256
Quite cool, appreciate.
Do I wait for a massdrop and import it?
I think I'm not gonna be able to find good sellers with any decent brand
>>54508556
I have no idea, I am in the same situation as you. I'm looking for a blue cherry keyboard, but I can't find anyone with a full Spanish ISO layout (apart from the Cherry MX 3.0, but apparently you have to specify it or something, otherwise it would be a German QWERTZ), so I think I'll go for an American ANSI (even American ISOs are hard to find). I would import it.
The Ducky Shine 4 looks pretty cool, but neither Amazon nor mechanicalkeyboards.com have any units left.
>>54497361
You know that there is such thing as switch clearances right? And that they have to be able to depress and not hit other things like leds or the switch itself?
>>54508907
I'm typing in the ducky one, but the problem is, they didn't pay atention to minor layouts like ours, and it is awful for a overpriced keyboard is not acceptable, so the experience is great... but you can notice the leds are placed for their ansi keycaps.
Evertyhing else is okay.
Bought mine in vsgamers, the shop is great, but they didn't have the spanish layout pic, so they will refund me, so they seem legit, maybe you find something you like there.

>>54508956
>they didn't pay atention to minor layouts like ours
I don't know why you'd expect them to. The largest part of the market is in the US, and Europe has a fuckton of country-specific layouts. You should be glad that there's an ISO version in the first place.
>>54506867
But it's not even WKL.
>>54509206
Well considering I'm paying 25% extra, I think they can manage. But whatever. It would cost the same, to fit the transparent part of the key-cap to the place the led is, not asking for miracles.
>>54509365
>to fit the transparent part of the key-cap to the place the led is
Those keys are doubleshot, right?
It certainly would cost something to replace their entire line of keycap moulds.
>>54509378
I'm just the consumer,if you charge me 25% more (more than 30% actually) I expect the result they advertise at least. They are the ones who should take care of those details or at least, show a picture of the actual finished "version", which they don't provide, this can be fault of the retailer, either way, I don't mind.
And it is a bitchy detail, I know, but if I spend 135 € my expectations are at least what I see in their ads, which is not the case. Anyway move on.

After years of using this G510 I'm looking to ditch it for a good mechanical keyboard.
I play a lot of PC games and have tried Red switches before and find them too be too weak compared to what I am used to on my g510.
I haven't tried black switches yet, but I would assume they are closer to what I am used to.
The g510 I find is way too big for my desk, I don't use any of the wacky features on it, and a TKL seems like it's all I need and the size of them looks nice.
