Is avira still the best free option?
how fuck can I get rid of the adds?
>>54469927
You subtract.
ESET NOD32 Beta (Free)
Install Common Sense 2017
>>54469953
>free
Wat
>>54469953
>intentionally installing a chinese botnet on your computer
Bitdefender is your best option if you absolutely must have an AV running all the time.
How do you even manage to put up with this shit is beyond me.
>>54470093
it literally is. since it's beta they need users
>>54470107
eset is based in slovakia
i like slovakia
>>54470157
>eset is based in slovakia
That's what they want you to think
It's too late anon, destroy everything in your digital life
>>54470223
your tinfoil is showing
>>54470157
And what is the point of using a fucking beta
>>54470128
Pirate it
>>54470278
Because it's a free version of NOD32.
>>54470278
It's legally/morally free.
If you want stable there are keys floating everywhere
>>54470297
>pirating antivirus
that destroys the whole point of using an av
only use keys/never use cracked av
>>54470278
It's a stable version with new features built on top of it.
>>54469927
Hello OP.
Interesting question. Personally I use Avast, which is free, is ok versatility wise, but has one or two niggles in it. It has a "Game Mode", which switches it's speed, and you can activate/Deactivate shields.
There are others and it really is up to you. ClamWin is having good things said about it (Will provide sauce - SourceForge). I used Avira at one point, but it just behaved like a drunk on valium trying to do a 100m sprint.
Good Luck OP.
>>54469927
.. sorry, I meant to add, who can forget AVG antivirus. Also free, pretty good, but the slowest I've tried.
>>54470123
If you are in a situation where you need antivirus, he's right, BitDefender is your best choice.
Just install Comodo Firewall, it also has a more complete and free* version with regular antivirus, standard HIPS protection and even a poorman virtualization.
There still are adds, but they are much less frequent than Avira. In the 2 years I've using Comodo, I think I've seen only 2 or so ads.
>>54470128
I press the little red X, then no more ads untill 24hrs when Program does an update will you then see this ad once again. Small price for something semi libre.
>>54469953
Thanks anon, I only stopped using the hacked version of NOD32 because it seemed meaningless to use a hacked AV. Is it worth using the Internet Security version, or is just regular NOD32 fine?
>>54472560
Here's what the website lists as what differences there are between the two, but it doesn't list anything in regards to differences in performance. Also, kek at the botnet protection, truly /g/'s AV.
malwarebytes is all i need
Avast Internet Security with a key from KAT.
>ads on an antivirus
>antivirus is adware
>adware is a virus
mfw antivirus is a virus
Is there any anti virus software that doesn't upload the contents of my HDD to their/NSA's servers?
>>54473432
>he doesn't know what adware is
>>54471046
You can disable ads.
You don't even watch options of your software? I bet you even leaved Comodo on default settings.
what-image-should-i-use.jpg
>>54469927
adds?
>>54473405
There are certain malwares which cannot even be found once entered, but can easily be stopped entering your pc if you have some AV with deny-policy.
>>54469927
No
>install qihoo 360
Is ClamAV a viable option right now?
>>54475008
Clam still has no viable realtime scanning.
Don't use an antivirus, just run tronscript every week and use your brain when on the computer
Comodo is a free security suite with AV, FW, sandbox, HIPS; if I must say a negative thing of it, it's the default config because configured for casuals, but in /g/ this shouldn't be an issue.
>>54470349
>If you want stable there are keys floating everywhere
>>54470349
there is any difference between nod32 trial and "full"?
I have it for almost a year and it never detected anything
>>54475247
No difference
That just means you have common sense
>>54475247
Also get mbam and do a scan from time to time
It sometimes catches what nod32 doesnt
Wasn't Symantec Endpoint Protection free for home users too?
>>54469927
ESET Smart Security + TNOD
The rest uses way too much resources
>>54475337
I have malwarebytes and use virustotal on pretty much everything I download
Still nothing was detected
Before this I got some sites scripts and stuff detected from time to time I think (hope) the change to ublock origin is the reason of my AV being useless
>>54475403
I do all the same things.
The only detections are shady cracks I'm downloading, and I run them sanboxed anyway.
You already know what you're doing, so it's normal there are no detections
>>54469927
Common Sense is the only antivirus thar gets rid of the ads (forever)
>>54475423
What do you use to sandbox stuffs
I'm using comodo but its pretty fukken slow and sandboxie is annoying
>>54475452
What's annoying about sandboxie?
I use that, didn't have any problems
>>54475480
The free version "features"
>>54470123
>>54470784
So far, agreeing with these two. And I've tried everything. Just don't be stupid (pirate apps/porn sites without browser add-on protection) and you'll be fine.
Where can you get the nod 32 beta
Antivirus is a placebo
>>54477050
I got my copy off shadytorrentsite.ru
>>54477105
people that says this are the same people that come on /g/ to bitch about having their shit cryptolocked by malware
>I use le common sense anti-virus
>scan their computer
>at least 3 infections found
Every, single, time.
>>54477159
But I use Linux, anon.
>>54477212
GNU/Linux to be exact.
>>54477050
https://www.eset.com/int/download/beta-versions/detail/family/323/fileflag/beta/
>>54477212
Linux isn't immune. You are just less likely to get viruses because the people that make malware prefer the lowest common denominator. i.e. Linux is just less targeted because it is so unpopular.
>>54471237
>>54470128
avira free 2016 here
how and when the fuck do you get ads?
I haven't seen any avira ads since early 2015
no popups in the lower right or windows
?
>>54477277
>Linux isn't immune
True, but if you try to run malicious software on Linux then it throws up big red flags when it asks for a root or superuser password.
>>54477277
dumb tripfag cancer
kill yourself finally
Comodo is the best. And their firewall is fucking amazing to be honest.
>>54469927
Just buy a mac

This.
I started using it since I looked at http://www.matousec.com/projects/proactive-security-challenge/results.php

kill yourself cancerous tripfag
I've lived with Common Sense 2006 for a decade, but decided on adding webroot for a bit more piece of mind with zero performance impact
Daily reminder that if you use antivirus you on your PC you don't belong to /g/
