When did form take over function in tech?
>overpriced "minimalist" design that Apple is known for where you pay more for less
>cluttered gaymer shit with edgy designs and bright leds everywhere
Because marketing features works even when most of the features are just cosmetic.

Apple shipped the features people wanted. People of the time who bought macs didn't do it because of the performance. They did it because they could use the GUI easily to write WYSIWYG documents.
Young Steve Jobs was kinda hot to be honest.

Capitalism.

mostly this
capitalism only care about sales and money, they don't care about progress or quality
this is the reason why people bought cars from Ford and not the competition
marketing is the strongest weapon for a capitalist market
I don't mean that capitalism is bad, but it's the future we choose and the only one we have for now
When technology stopped being foremost a tool and turned into a consumer commodity. Workers care about function. Consumers care about form.

It's this. The target clientele of computers is consumers now. Not corporate or business users. Consumers like pretty things and status symbol
Name one example of where form made us lose function.
iPhones were never originally "autistic functional" in the first place, so you can't say they lost function.

I don't think anybody can say that any apple product is not designed via form follows function.
Smartphones were a complete disaster before except for blackberries with the worst software ever because they decided that function should follow form.
Jobs saw all that, realised that fingers are the future and Apple designed a phone based around how people will use them, with their fingers.
This by the way is the greatest example of form follows function.

Thats the greatest example of somebody turning a cylinder into a screaming 90°C piece of shit, two gpus and a xeon whos fucking idea was that
