Running an imageboard

Realistically, how hard would it be to run an image board? I've been toying around with the idea for a while, and I feel like the only problem would be moderating content. What are your thoughts?

The hardest thing is finding board topics that will attract posters. Once you have discovered that and gotten a decent user base, picking a few decent people willing to moderate shouldn't be challenging. Most of your time is spent on making sure the software runs smoothly, scaling up infrastructure if required by growth. The hardest part is tricking someone into taking over for you when you're tired and realize it's a lot more fun just anonymously shitposting.
