What do you have now?
In the unlikely situation that you are sitting on games you cannot play and you strongly wish to play them ASAP I say buy a discounted 980 or get the 1070 when it comes out. I'm sitting on my 980 happily until Volta and I don't believe I will regret my decision. Getting a 1080 isn't the best idea for that price point IMO.
