I started the basic tutorials for Python yesterday, and so far using it has been surprisingly fun.
What is /g/ coding in Python?
Just a bunch of ArcPy scripts. Because opening .mxds by hand and exporting to pdfs is fucking stupid.
First Python program I've ever written downloaded all pictures from some Chinese blogs with Japanese idols. 10 gigs worth. That's when I realized how powerful scripting languages are.

Nothing. node.js somehow replaced python as my goto scripting language.

I'm doing a gate opener contract project on a Raspberry Pi. Super simple little thing. It listens for someone to ask to open a gate. It then checks their name, password, and Mac address, and if they all match up, it fires a relay that is attached to their existing security system. Also companion iOS and Android apps.
How about you? How's training going?

Wow, that sounds awesome. I'm rereading and practicing what I learned yesterday. Right now I'm just applying how to nest lists.
