If its what you want/need to do, go ahead.

Gentoo

A) Yes
Install it

B) No
Don't install it
>>
sure why not
>>
Why wouldn't you just install Arch?
>>
The only advantage above Arch is nice gtk theme, but you can add Antergos repo to Arch anyway
>>
If it's what you want/need, chances are you'd be just as happy with Fedora or even Ubuntu.
>>
>>54439154
He probably wants bleeding edge, yet is to lazy to just install Arch.

Installer
>>
>>54439278
LOL

The antergos installer doesn't even fucking work! I remember trying to install it one time and I got the the part where you select your disk or something and the elements of the GUI just disappeared making it impossible to install.
>>
>>54439295
Works for me™
>>
I used it for some months, was pretty good, but yea installer sometimes shits itself.

If I want the Arch shit again I would probably use the default Arch install.

I just installed Antergos yesterday. It works perfectly. I installed Arch many times before, but it takes a lot of time to configure it and install the programs. Antergos does it faster and you make minimal changes and then get to work.
>>
>>54440098
Taking the easy way isn't always the best way.
>>
>>54439876
HAHAHAHAHAHAH
>>
>>54440171
In this case, I think it is, for me. As I said, I installed Arch many times before, I see no difference between Arch and Antergos, excepting that Antergos works out of the box and comes with things maybe you don't want. Also, I was amazed to see that PulseAudio finally works. If something works for you, then use it.
>>
>>54438881
Go for it, I've installed it and it work like a charm. You can choose between a lot of DE / Wm and you can encrypt your ssf with luks.
>>
>>54440256
>>54440256
What didn't work with PulseAudio before?
>>
Yes. Shit's good mane.
>>
>>54440452
t. retard
>>
>>54440376
It crashed a lot. I mean, it didn't work at all. I had to configure Alsa so I can listen to multiple audio sources at the same time and not have errors (dmix helped me). But now PulseAudio works in Antergos. :)
>>
>>54440580
Oh.
>>
>>54438881
their installer is broken, use architect instead
>>
>>54438881
Sure. It's a decent way to begin using more advanced GNU/Linux Distributions.
>>
>>54439876
fucking topjej
>>
>>54438881
It wouldn't even load on my VM for some reason. I barely managed to get my current Linux (manjaro) on there. I just seem to hit a black screen.

I'm too inexperienced to even install arch.
>>
>>54442629
it's not your fault, their installer is just shit.
I must've tried it 10 times in the past few months, didn't work even once
>>
>>54442644
Thanks, that makes me feel a bit better. I don't even have VT-x or AMD-V to enable on my BIOS, though.

The fuck is wrong with my machine?
I wanna play with arch like the big boys.
>>
>>54442668
Just follow the beginner's guide. (most of it is bloat)
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_guide

It's ~15 commands of copy paste to get the base system working
then you just sudo pacman -S lightdm <meme de> and then start a thread on /g/ about how you installed arch
>>
>>54442749
A'ight, I'm gonna do it right now.
>>
>>54442786
OK it's pissing me off already.
>>
>>54442961
use architect
https://sourceforge.net/projects/architect-linux/
>>
>>54438881
short answer: yes.

long answer: yes, of course.
>>
>>54442970
Thanks. Downloading.
For some reason the instructions on installing archlinux aren't so great for VirtualBox.
>>
>>54442995
Doesn't do anything. Just says "failed: no such file or directory".
>>
>>54439876
Either you overwrote your partition in which case you're a fucking retard, or grub's os-prober didn't detect your partition. In which case search for a fix on stackoverflow and run update-grub
>>
>>54439295
This has also happened to me, I restarted and it worked fine.
>>
>>54442668
>>I wanna play with arch like the big boys.
Nerdy teenagers aren't exactly "big boys"
>>
>>54443455
You had ONE fucking job, Titor
>>
>>54439876
famalam you have to install it into a separate partition laddy
>>
>>54438881
Yes, i tried arch, it was time consuming, arcane and broken.

I tried architect, it kinda broke, it kinda worked but still wasnt there

I tried antergos, and it just worked.

don't let the memers meme you. fuck arch and gentoo.
>>
use architect instead. or archbang
>>
>>54439876
os-prober, update-grub. Manjaro has better installer.
>>
>>54438881
No, dogshit installer
>>
>>54444406
I beg to differ. Antergos was totally painless. Manjaro was a fuckup and kept murdering my partitions.
>>
>>54444426
You might be one of lucky few that has no issues with Antergos.
>>
>>54444448
Is it notoriously bad?
>>
>>54444481
Sadly yes.
>>
>>54444444 test
>>
>all these crybabies calling antergos and architect linux broken
>installed both on my spare laptop less than a week ago
>perfectly fine and easily straightforward install
>architect linux can be understood after like a single youtube tutorial
>>
>>54444426
>not preparing your empty partition beforehand before installing ANY distro

You deserve every single fuckup you get
>>
>>54444728

>it works flawlessly
>>
I love it
>>
Antergos
>install just works purge what I don't want
Arch
>takes forever to configure
>new problem every week
But anon m-muh 14 packages
>>
>>54439056
Who are you quoting?
>>
>>54446412
Arch works on my machine :)
>>
>>54446412
They use the same repos so you're gonna get a "new problem every week" on Antergos too.
>>
>>54439876
lol
>>
>>54444728
the "antergos is broken" is definitely not a meme, their installer is unstable as shit. I don't think I've ever got it to work in a virtual machine and only once it worked while installing on an actual computer
>>
Why do people use Antergos when Architect/Arch Anywhere/Archbang exist?
