ANybody know what all these "miscellaneous files" are

ANybody know what all these "miscellaneous files" are on Android and how to remove them? I've only downloaded 1.8 GB of applications, so what's taking up all of this space? Galaxy s5

What does your file manager show when you navigate to the internal storage of your phone? "Other" isn't very descriptive.

you might have some 3gbs of thumbnails (being largely optimistic), they are a plague to get rid of.

they're in this DCIM folder, hidden. you might also have some application data laying around there.

get one of these storage analyzers, preferrably one with a treemap. there's 'disk usage' on f-droid and I forgot the name of the fancy, bloaty one on google play.
