>OS X has had proper high PPI support since 2012
>Most monitors and laptops are still low PPI
Why?
>>
lmao just increase your viewing distance

bcause no one cares
>>
Because I like my sister, that's why.

High PPI the SSD of displays.
>>
lower ppi displays are cheaper
people don't really give a shit unless you do a fuckton of marketing, like apple did
>>

Yes but it also explains why people think they're 68" 1080p display looks "gorgeous". They actually don't care. They don't know, and they don't care.

>tons of products are better than appleshit
>mactards think appleshit is good no matter how shit it is

High PPI exists on non-Apple hardware you dunce.
>>
>>54420674
because the only good scaling is 4:1, and because 4k 20-25" and 27" 5k displays are expensive

Or maybe they're viewing it from a couch instead of pressing their face up against the TV

>proper high PPI
either 1x or 2x is not proper high PPI support.
>>
>>54420713
I like my sister too dammit.
>>

Because people are fucking stupid.

>sit at computer all day
>reading emails, editing spreadsheets
>eyes are killing me by the time I go home
>I must need a bigger font
>higher resolution? What? Why would I want a smaller font?

Idiots are holding back technology.

>why would I pay $300 for a monitor when I can get the EXACT SAME THING for $100?
>What the fuck are you talking about, "pixel density"?
>They're both 27", idiot! They're the same thing!
>>
>>54421927
This, the only relevant scaling ratios are between 1x and 2x since that's about the upper limit of how much you can actually see.

Supporting only 1x or 2x is pretty stupid in general, although you *can* justify going for 2x solely on the grounds of it being better for quality than 1.5x scaling.
>>
>>54420674
Don't you mean highDPI? A 4-inch phone with 1280*720 resolution is high PPI too.
>>
Because there isn't a huge demand for it.
Also memes.
Also a lot of companies have much higher quality assurance with it comes to their displays than Apple does, including zero bright/dim/dead pixel warranties.
