I had the Android Programming Guide a year ago and can recommend it too.
Think Python is a great introductory book. It teaches programming, and only teaches Python insofar it's necessary to learn the more general skill of reasoning your way from problem to solution.

The Linux Command Line and Automate the boring stuff with Python are good introductions, Practical Malware analysis is excellent, and Hacking : the art of exploitation is god tier.
