With downthemall you can for example download every image in a 4chan thread with one click.

I save a bunch of images from galleries (usually porn). Saving with the browser generally lags because browsers try to begin the download before open the Save dialog (and I do want to pic a particular folder). After that I find the default Save dialog to be crappy. Using DTA gets the link into the manager without that half second lag and gives me a save prompt that's easier to select a folder. It's veerrryy minor stuff but I do it so often that the stock Save feature annoys me.
I want to filter anything as much as possible aside from the important stuff.

I'm going and guess that if you're using better better booru, there's a version in the github issue tracker that filters out your blacklisted tags in the direct download links. i.e. you should be able to bulk download tasteful pics of your waifu without getting all the gorey stuff.
