Crazy
I eat ass too dude
I'm less concerned with quality loss of generations, since images like that are usually re-re-re-watermarked shit anyway. I do like FLIF's compression - it's better than PNG and has progressive rendering. PNG /can/ do progressive rendering but it increases the file size. FLIF does progressive and gives better compression than PNG
It's crazy how much MozJPEG did right.
>>54387573
I like BMP more.
No compression is what I prefer at all times.
It just sucks ass when I end up with huge fucking files.
You can thank black people for constantly reencoding images
Which of these can you even use on the internet?
>>54387680
supported on every browser?
JPG
FLIF looks neat.
>>54387705
and PNG
>>54387727
I meant of the formats in OP's pic
>>54387705
MozJPEG always creates progressive JPEGs, and some older/embedded hardware might not support those, but yeah it's not a problem for browsers.
>>54387573
Stop comparing lossless image compression to lossy image compression.
PNG is the best lossless. FLIF would be the best lossy.
>>54387945
>Free Lossless Image Format
>lossy
Are you fucking retarded?
>>54387961
I guess I am.
>>54387573
>I'm less concerned with quality loss of generations
Oh yeah. Why did they even put a loseless format in with the lossy ones? Was it mean to be the control? Also it seems for at least that image specifically FLIF has smaller filesize than JPEG at 97%.
>>54387961
FLIF started as lossless.
But then:
http://flif.info/lossy.html
>>54387613
...and that's what FLIF intends to solve.
>>54388267
The hell are you talking about?
>>54387945
FLIF does have a lossless mode and the compression is better than PNG
There's lossless jpeg
>>54388120
FLIF has lossless and lossy modes. With the lossy mode you get lossy compression on the first run but any edits or processing after that are lossless by default. It keeps the compression benefits of the initial lossy compression without further loss.
>>54388344
Are you telling me they're using lossy FLIF in the video?
>>54388120
JPEG also has a lossless mode.
>>54388352
How's that relevant?
>>54388351
Yeah.
> Of course the information that is lost, stays lost, but no matter how many times you save a FLIF file, it will not get any additional loss from a decode-encode cycle. This is not the case for e.g. JPEG, where each decode-encode cycle always introduces additional loss.

I need time to render benchmarks to make a full opinion here. decompression time shouldn't be fully discounted.
>>54387429
>FLIF has better fidelity at a lower filesize
what is this magic?
>>54388451
better compression that uses more CPU to compress/decompress
>>54387613
Which is why compression exists.
>>54387573
>PNG /can/ do progressive rendering but it increases the file size.
it depends on the image
TIFF > everything else
Debate me.

4chan FLIF support when?
>>54389224

How to create FLIF or MOZJPEG?
>>54389322
how would you know if you stopped reading at the end of a post if you stopped reading?
>>54389257
Never.
Hiro is too busy creating meme boards.
>>54389257
does any browser even support it
>>54389336
install gentoo
all hail FLIF

thank god webp isn't used on twitter
