Apple FORCES developers to build on apple devices because they know it would never happen any other way. You need a Mac running legit OSX to build for iphone, for example. If they really had a development environment worth using for its own merit, devs wouldn't need a locked-in ultimatum to do so.
Meanwhile embedded devs, mobile devs, and FPGA devs all work overwhelmingly on windows.

I've had to install Windows 10 on a couple of computers at work recently. It takes two clicks to shut down instead of just one, which is unacceptable, but it's actually a whole lot faster than Windows 7. I don't know why that is, but it's pretty impressive.
