Don't Skylake chips still bend under pressure of large heatsinks? Why do people still recommend it? It's the reason I went with Haswell (and because the 4790k is $40 cheaper than the 6700k with negligible performance loss)

I'm aware MSI was working on "CPU Guard" to stop this from happening but that doesn't account for any other mobo company

They bend if you put it under one of those monster double decker heatsink fan combos and press like hell.
>>
Dude, DDR4. Why would would go back to DDR3 if you can afford DDR4?
>>
>>54376474
DDR4 is a meme for anything but iGPU. And Intel can't make good ones anyway.
Bristol Ridge come sooner pls

Faster RAM = Faster loading right? Pretty much can be solved with a performance SSD desu. Its also been determined RAM speeds dont affect gaming performance also

The Hyper 212 EVO is only $30-$35. Considering how cheap it is, its a very viable option for most people which again raises concern

With Skylake is a whole different story

Faster RAM will give you better FPS in CPU bound games like GTA V and Fallout 4.
>>

Didn't happen to me and i have hyper d92 cooler
>>
>>54376538
Did u forget they got rid of overclocking the locked chips in a bios update? This same situation happened with Ivy Bridge or Haswell also, cant remember which.

Also it was only an Asrock thing
>>
>>54376552
Both of which are unoptimized piles of garbage anyways

That memory leak issue though
>>
>>54376515
No, faster RAM better performance even with DDR3.

With Haswell, going from 1600Mhz to 2133 actually brings almost 10% performance in plenty of applications and games, scaling starts falling down after 2133mhz, the chipset just is designed for faster speeds.

Skylake on the other hand is scales way better with higher speeds up to 4000mhz

The EVO 212 won't bent your Skylake chip. The issue primarily effects heatsink/fan combos that don't have dampening springs on the screws.

I'm running an i7 6700 with the EVO 212 and haven't experienced any issues what so ever.
>>
>>54376395
It was only ever confirmed to happen with a single model of heatsink. The manufacturer of the heatsink has since fixed the problem.

>>
>>54376745
OP here, yeah I played it safe and went Haswell. Sure I wont have DDR4 but I already had DDR3 and haswell's cheaper than Skylake so it works out
>>
>>54376799
What's wrong with them?
>>
>>54376804
Not the dude but he probably meant the 14nm was a meme because there was barely any performance gain
>>
>>54376821

But it is better, with cooler temps, right?
>>
>>54376846
Ever so mildly. Waste of money.
>>
>>54376846
yes, better multithreaded performance too.

Skylake seems like a pretty nice meme to me.

How much? $50?

Cpu mark on my 6600k is 2400k/ 8k multi.

Haswell is a hot, buggy mess.

490x here i come

if you manage to bend a skylake chip you're an idiot for buying a scythe cooler
