My dad hates Linux because he thinks it won't work without cli.
My mom is really loving Ubuntu mate though, she says it made her laptop like new (it's an old c2d laptop) and she doesn't have to worry about viruses.
Props to Ubuntu for actually making a distro that works right away without needing a bunch of hassle to install proprietary drivers.

My parents are the same bro. I fix their computer issues all the time though but they keep pretending I'm tech illiterate.
Last time they needed help with my moms laptop, they had a go at me for quoting some of the things they'd said about me and computers and refusing to help them.

-Why do you turbo-ignore every other telemarketer the microsecond you hear the call center in the background but not this one?

-They gave you the most vague problem possible like "we detected your computer is not working" but it is and you spot this in a second when it's a different type of scam for the "IRS" or your "bank"
-You're the most mistrusting boomer fuck and "call bullshit" every 10 seconds and I have trouble sometimes getting you to believe legit stuff I'm trying to show you?
-Did you previously call anyone asking for help?
-Every single google search says do NOT answer this call?
-They're asking you to go to 384932894.hurr.se, does this look like the typical websites you go to?
-In some cases, you're on fucking ubuntu now and have been for 8 years because you kept fucking windows up?
-You already pay someone else that you trust and know in person to do this?
I'm curious why a person who does ALL of this shit suddenly becomes a three year old when you get the same scam call you've been hanging up to for a decade but instead "from windows", how dumb can you fucking get.
Actually had to deal with a few situations where they let them on and had to reformat and also check the whole network. Always the same clueless response "Well how was *I* supposed to know that!?" A 5 year old could see past this blatant scam, how braindead can you get. Reporting this to the person who owns your company as hard as possible hope your worthless ass gets fired.

I think that for most people, the "I may be getting scammed" reflex only triggers once they are about to deal with money in some way. Most computery scams involve taking actions that do not move money in any visible way, and that do not cause any obvious problems either. Those people calling bullshit very effectively generally do so once it becomes clear that they need to pay in some way.
