What's the argument for having the latest smartphone again? I used to own the latest flagship models. Now I have an $80 5" phone that can handle any app and has plenty of screen space. So what's the point of buying a new $600 phone or getting jewed into a 2yr contract?
>>
>>54364462
70€ 4,5" phone checking in. What cant i do that people with fancy phones can?

I guess people just like wasting money or something. I'm still using a $40 lg volt I got shortly after black friday last year. Only regret is I got a 64GB mSD card instead of a 128GB one.

If I do upgrade I'm limiting my budget to $100.
>>
>>54364462
They actually work well, and have a better camera. If you don't care about lag or camera, sure, stick to your poorfag shit.
>>
>>54364495
I'll concede that the cameras are better. But everything else is the negligible. My phone has excellent resolution, battery life, screen size, CPU speed, and storage. I couldn't give a shit that my photos aren't as sharp and lit.
>>
>>54364709
Yea but camera cant justify price difference. You can buy an actual camera for that much money.

This. And let's not kid ourselves, phone cameras will never be as good as even entry level ~$400 DSLR cameras.
>>
If you know what you're doing, you get used/refurbed flagships from a year or 2 prior.

You get the flaghship experience, generally, instead of some shitty poorfag thing with a shitty screen, shitty camera, shitty speakers, shitty dac, shitty build quality, shitty specs and shitty storage space.

But you can keep saving $200 every few years and tell yourself that makes you a better person than others.

No skin off my back.
>>
>>54364794
they will against the kit lens that comes with a $400 dslr camera (except in the dark)

I'm reading this shit on my S7 edge and I'm laughing
>>
>>54364818
lol, no they wont. I have a phone with one of the top smartphone cameras, and it can't compete with my D3200.
>>
>>54364818
No they won't unless you are talking about Sony smartphone cameras and even then they can only compete at 100 ISO. Entry level DSLRs have like 24MP resolution and have batshit crazy clarity even at high ISO settings.
>>
>>54364849

give it back jamal
>>
>>54364737
But it won't get you a good phone. While for 500-600 bucks you get a decent camera and a great phone.
>>
Webpages keep getting bigger, slower and shittier so the latest phone prevents lag. Camera also.

I'm about to get a Moto G after using some old trash for the last 5 years though. Haven't the money nor heart to buy ultra new smartphones.
>>
>>54364965
That's debatable. Sure you can get a 5.5" screen with 4K resolution and the latest snapdragon housefire but do you really need it? When you're an adult you have to consider if spending your hard earned money on certain things is worth it at all. Don't worry you'll understand when you get a job.

http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-6-vs-dslr-and-point-and-shoot-2015-2?IR=T

There is a difference but it's not that big and iPhone 6s got an even better camera, which S7 beats again. High end phone cameras are perfectly sufficient now unless you're a professional.

>>54365012
>but do you really need it?
But do you really need a smartphone?

>spending your hard earned money on certain things is worth it at all. Don't worry you'll understand when you get a job.
>pretending to have a job while caring about 600 bucks
>>
>>54364462
I have a Galaxy S5 and I'm perfectly happy with it
I'm a casual user. Pretty much only use it to make calls and text, with the occasional web browsing when I need to look up something on the spot
I feel for most people, having the latest smartphone is more of a fashion/social statement than it is trying to have the most practical device.
I'll keep my S5 until it shits on me
>>
>>54365088
>But do you really need a smartphone?
I want to shitpost on the go and take a few quick photos that don't need to be professional grade. Yes I need one but I don't need a $600 one.

>>pretending to have a job while caring about 600 bucks
How deep are you in credit card debt? I used to think like you but got my shit together when I owed ~$4,000 in credit card debt. Now I have a few months of emergency funds in the bank and both my credit cards have been paid off in full.
>>
Blu VIVO 5 reporting in. great phone. screens great. aesthetically it is good looking. doesn't heat up as much as my LG G3 did. camera is shit. unless you manage to keep the phone super steady.

Besides that it works better than my G3.
-$200
>>
>not just getting the latest iphone with monthly payment plan
>not trading in old iphone and extending the contract when a new phone comes out to get it for free
it's 2016 theres no reason not to have the latest phone, even poorfags can afford it
>>
>>54365149
>Yes I need one but I don't need a $600 one.
You could be way more efficient at shitposting and have a more enjoyable experience with it though. Also the speed from newer cameras (specially iPhone ones) makes shooting pictures so much better.

>How deep are you in credit card debt?
I am not from Murica, friend. Never had any debt (nor rich parents, before you use that card) Also never had any money problems since I am 16 or so.

>Now I have a few months of emergency funds in the bank and both my credit cards have been paid off in full.
Well done but just because you couldn't deal with your money before, doesn't mean other people can't. Don't be a faggot and tell others how to spend their cash.

>>54365325
>getting cucked by contracts
Unless you found some crazy rare deal, it's so not worth it.

>when a new phone comes out to get it for free
Just selling it would give you more money than "muh free new phone"
>>
>>54364965
I have a good phone for 70€. I could get a great camera for 700€ with the money saved if i was into photos. But okay camera is good enough for my needs.
>>
>>54364462
Nexus 5 user here. Fell for the flagship meme, never again.

Going to order a $150 Chinese phone because I'm scared of the mtk6735p

You can buy a second hand 4s for 100 usd now.. what's the argument for buying anything above this?
>>

>>
>>54364462
If you game on it or use VR on it, it's worth it. If you like to take a lot of photos and don't want to carry around a seperate camera, worth it. Otherwise, not.

You don't. Only goys do it.

The trick is to do what the Jews do and buy a smart phone once every 10 years.
>>
>>54366998
Don't settle for a mediatek quad-core lower than the 6580, they're barely good enough to handle google maps and image searching. The MT6753 octa-core is inexpensive and at least matches SD615/616 performance. For $150 you're more likely to get a reliable Helio X10/Snapdragon 6xx.
>>
>>54367749
Is the 6735p below the 6580?

Also what phones with good battery life have the 6753?
>>
>>54367770
Anything with 2,800mah or higher, that's usually 6-7 SOT
>>
>>54367816
Really?

What about the ulefone power?
>>
>>54364462
What phonr is that op?
>>
>>54364462
>Now I have an $80 5" phone that can handle any app
Try using PPSSPP at max settings.
>>
>>54367854
Vernee Thor shows 6hrs but it's only 720p. How long does the Ulefone Power last with its 1080p and giant chink battery?
>>
>>54364462
What's your phone? I bet it sucks shit dry.
>>
>>54364462
>why do people want fast cars or hot women when this goat I fuck is just fine?
>>
>>54367898
Well it's 1080p and has a bigger screen?
But idk, I just saw the power and I love the battery size. It should be better, right? The battery life?

Just noticed the home button looks like an apple one.

Bah, why are the Chinese obsessed with copying apple?

Not sure if I want it anymore. Any other phones at a similar price range with similar specs? Especially the battery size.
>>
>>54368010
It's a capacitive button, back to >>>/g/csg/
>>
>>54368010
>battery size

what you want is battery life, you should get a Redmi 3 16gb
>>
>>54368061
This should offer better battery life though?

Plus redmi 3 is 720p
>>
>>54364462
You're doing it wrong.

You only need to spend 50 to 100 a year for the latest phone. It's called trading up.

PS: your shit phone can't handle "any" app faggot.
>>
>>54368075
720p and 4,100mah means better battery life
>>
>>54368231
I'm going to stick to a 1080p screen thanks.
>>
>>54364495
Play Monster Hunter Explore or FFXI remake.
>>
>>54368237
won't work with VR it's best to stick with 720p low end, and 1440p or more for higher.
