Fucking retards. It's like you guys enjoy ignorance and not protecting your privacy or your right to privacy. You are the precursors to Orwell's nightmare. If I was a bit more paranoid I'd say you are shills hired by people that are interested in obsoleting encryption entirely.

But for the average person who isn't involved in illegal activity you don't really need encryption.

I have a small encrypted file container made with Veracrypt. I keep plain text files of my various passwords for all my emails, accounts, etc. Also digital backups of important stuff like payment records, pictures from when that fucking 18-wheeler hit me.

My laptop has its 2nd HDD fully encrypted. Nothing but the OS is kept on the ssd, but personal info wouldn't be able to be found if the laptop was stolen.

Same with both my Android phone and tablet. Fully encrypted. It's not even about hurr hiding CP or terrorist shit. Its about knowing that whatever scum steals my shit will be too stupid to understand what's "wrong" with it and be unable to sell it or make use of it. Just a shiny paperweight.

This isn't about having to hide anything necessarily. It's about you ridiculing people who do make the decision to encrypt things of theirs -- whatever that may be: Their Bitcoin wallet, their diary, their kinky porn fetishes, a list of e-mails with license keys etc.

Your stance is like saying: "Sure, the TSA can fondle my balls and strip me naked -- what do I have to hide?" It's not about hiding anything, it's about privacy. The thought of people watching you and being able to check up on you at anytime breeds a meek and easy-to-control culture:

https://theintercept.com/2016/04/28/new-study-shows-mass-surveillance-breeds-meekness-fear-and-self-censorship/

And this is exactly what you are inviting into your homes with those "I-have-nothing-to-hide"-attitudes. If someone would who got access to your browser history and threatened to advertise all the porn videos you watched, would you feel comfortable? Yes you did nothing illegal -- but you would still like your privacy, you don't need others to know everything about your private life.

EVEN IF they for some reason decided out of billions of people on this planet to start monitoring me, all they would find is a very boring life.

I don't think any agent would seriously sit for 10 hours a day actively monitoring my activity Programming, watching youtube videos, posting on 4chan, doing work-related things and watching movies/listening to music.

Come up with 4 words. Then two sets of numbers that mean something to you.
The sequence of words would only really mean something to you because of how random they are. The numbers could be a relatives bday, old area code, etc. I.e. make the pass long, impossible to guess, but easy to remember.
I think my password is something like 65 characters long for my main encrypted container because it has so much important info in place. It's a full blown sentence with punctuation.
>1234bluemoosemaplebacon5678
Stupid password, but absurd enough that you can remember, almost impossible for others to come close to guessing.

Again drawing conclusions from your own behavior. Not everyone is like you, and not everyone would have the same motivations to be concerned about their privacy. If that's loli in your case that's fine -- and you would probably be fine, in very few countries it's actually illegal I think.

>>54361245

There's been times I've forgotten my user password for my desktop and had to check, only thing is that that's recoverable from if I forget. Whereas encryption I'll be screwed

Writing it down can compromise the integrity of the containers security, but as long as you keep the plain text copy safe you should be fine. I have a small fire proof suitcase/safe type deal that I keep paper copies of important info in. Something I could pick up and run out the door with if the house were burning down. SS card, birth certificate, title for my car, etc.

Just don't be an idiot and keep the pass on a piece of paper on the fridge or something. At that point you're better off just completely unencrypted.

>>
>>54363557
>Yeah, and only murderers want guns? That's the argument you're making.

Kind of true.

Look at US gun deaths versus almost every other country.

It has a mass shooting every week whereas most countries can't remember a mass shooting in the last decade.
>>
>>54363668
>Kind of true

What's true? The part about only murderers wanting guns?

If so, you might want to consider the fact that the US probably has more guns than people. More gun deaths, sure, but not enough to make the above statement any less stupid.

Besides, it's about the faulty logic, not so much about wether more guns cause more murder; or anything else you might've meant.
