Hey /g/ what distro has the best KDE Plasma 5?
Should I go with Netrunner or Chakra?
>>
>>54357475
Chakra is pretty extreme. Normally I hate GNOME and gtk. But I won't deny there are some useful gtk softwares out there.
Netrunner is garbage.

Why no go straight with Arch/Antergos/Manjaro?
>>
>>54357491
Honestly because I'm in need of stable system at the moment, and after all this memeing abour Arch and Arch based distros I don't know who to trust anymore and I dont have time to try them all fully.
Also, what do you mean by "chakra is extreme"?
>>
Arch works pretty well for me

I've been using the same install since 2013 without major issues
>>
>>54357544
If you notice carefully,

1. The memes come from people who was not able to install Arch

2. 90% of the memes come from a NEET basement dweller with BMI of over 40 and 2 friends in real life

Choice is yours.

>extreme
Chakra does not allow any gtk based softwares in it's repo by default
>>
>>54357571
Is it hard to learn pacman? I used apt whole my life.
>>
>>54357475

Manjaro
>>
>>54357591
Not really. In fact, I find it way easier (and more predictable) to use than apt.
>>
>>54357544
>stable system
>meme distro maintained by amateurs copying Arch's repos

Pick one. If you want arch, just use arch, not some hacked together memeshit
>>
Gentoo has the latest software from kde. It even packages beta, alpha and git versions.

It's also vanilla without needless patching so you will get the experience the developers intended.
>>
>>54357646
You see? Now I'm confused again.
Just when I went to manjaro website your post pops out...
>>
>>54357664
Manjaro is so poorly maintained, they are weeks behind on security updates. Just use Arch or Gentoo
>>
>>54357685
They are up to date with security updates. Lurk moar
>>
>>54357475
Debian Stable
>>
>>54357491
Antergos and Arch are pretty good with KDE from my experience. Keep in mind that KDE isn't ''themed'' on Arch/Antergos.
>>
>>54357711
Why aren't you running kernel 2.5?
>>
>>54357745
>kernel 2.5

i see we have a noob here...
>>
>>54357613
Yep. Arch and especially pacman is pretty neat.
>>
>>54357780
So.. why aren't you using 2.5 or 2.6 or whatever?
>>
>>54357491
>>54357592
What package manager does Manjaro has?
>>
>>54357871
pacman
>>
>>54357846
my router runs 2.4
my laptop runs 3.16
>>
>>54357957
>laptop
Why not 2.6?
>>
>>54357491
Why is Netrunner garbage? More on this?
>>
>>54358018
Broken ootb. I hope they fixed this by now. Last year when I tried the display manager was glitchy
>>
>>54357491
>>54357571
>>54357716
I had Arch and Antegros installed with KDE and they both kept randomly freezing.

Google it OP, there are dozens of people who had this issue and no clear solutions. It may have something to do with open source AMD drivers and arch, but I never found out. I got Kubuntu instead and it just werks
>>
>>54358082
Surprisingly Kubuntu was the worst KDE distro I've ever tried

Intel HD graphics fag here
>>
>>54357745
2.5?
I'm on fucking 4.5.
>>
>>54358135
Debian stable doesn't run 4.5
>>
>>54358082
I'm >>54357571 and I've been using AMD mesa drivers all the time (5470M)
>>
>>54357475

I tried this. Nice customization but I need the gnome shell extensions.

Manjaro's security is provided by Allah, the Son, the Lord, the holly spirit and the Buddha.
>>
>>54358266
So you don't have any argument left. Took you long enough

Now go back to >>>/b/ where you belong
>>
>>54357475
Go Debian!
>mainstream distro
>serious on security
>you only need to install a single package
>can be as stable/bleeding edge as you want it to be
>>
>>54357475
Try Manjaro KDE it's really good if you are lazy fuck.
>>
>>54358519
I was just now on their website. There are links for "prerelease" of 16.06. Should I go with that or to go with older versions ( i think its 15.12?)
>>
>>54357990
because debian stable comes with 3.16
>>
>>54358558
Why 3.16 is stable than 4.5?
>>
>>54358575
It isn't. Debian devs just think outdated + homegrown security patches = good.
>>
>>54357475

Pic related; hands down the best KDE implementation around.
>>
>>54358616
>It isn't
So you are saying 3.16 is more stable than 4.5?
>>
>>54358642
How many others did you try and for how long? Why do you claim opensuse is the best?
>>
>>54358668
I'm not. "Stable" is a meme buzzword. 3.16 is more time tested, but that doesn't mean it is less buggy. Debian devs are retarded and think that backporting security updates on outdated software is better than updating the software from upstream. Use what you want, but if you want the latest features, don't use Debian stable.
>>
>>54358715

I tried Arch, Kubuntu, KDE Fedora. Nothing was as well implemented as KDE on OpenSUSE. It is the most support DE in the SUSE recosystem, which is why it's a default.
>>
>>54358575
debian stable defaults to 3.16 and ive had zero reasons to update it on my laptop.

run Testing if you need newer
>>
>>54358834
But is there any reasons not to use 2.6?
>>
>>54358867
3.1 had a lot of performance improvements make mainline. 4.5 even more so. Also lots of features. I would trust btrfs on am older kernel, if you use that.
>>
>>54358956
seriously kill yourself u pathetic human samefaging waste
>>

Who welcomed you in the conversation?

depends on your hardware and intended use.

Your mother, she too likes to go offtopic while choking on my warm shit and cum.
>>
>>54357990
why not 0.9?

Ask debian maintainers. It's clearly has been there for a long time, it must be stable
>>
