It's few paragraphs in "Intent of this Success Criterion" if you don't want to read all of it. In short, screen reader users may have hard time finding how to stop and play the video without controls and to make sense of the video.

I don't know which user agent you're using. I am not an expert in that area anyway, so I may also be wrong and I do not know what the common keyboard shortcuts are for video controls.

Consider that many screen reader users may also use browser extensions to help do their tasks, if their web browser doesn't give the keyboard shortcuts.

>>54350841
Inserting a HTML
<!DOCTYPE>
does it. I could do
overflow: hidden;
in CSS but it's not perfect. Some user agents also set few pixels of margin/padding to the bottom of the document in body background color.

If you have a fix for it, I'll include it. Usually this is a non-issue for things like
ladies.html

About Validator.nu, it doesn't seem to like reversed single and double quotes around type. Maybe this is a bug.

This is valid:
<source src="cry.webm" type='video/webm; codecs="vp9, flac"'>

This is invalid:
type="video/webm; codecs='vp9, flac'"

Arguably, the WHATWG spec says to use single-quotes with double-quotes nested in.

Then again, why do we need a HTML page for playing a WebM video which can contain WEBVTT subtitles in itself?

I should also note that the greater than equal sign in WebVTT subtitles must be escaped as

See: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Web/API/Web_Video_Text_Tracks_Format#Cue_Payload

I'm also thinking there's a way to mark which person is speaking in subtitles for increased accessibility. Investigating.

Could someone also tell me the names of every person speaking in the video? I haven't watched the anime.

Isn't it incorrect to say "play", when WebM is just a container for different media? You open the container and then play the media inside (if there are any). If the container was empty, you don't really play anything.

Firefox is the premier browser for the free software minded. That it winds up being way behind in standards is irrelevant.

Though I would go the extra mile if this were anything more than a meme site, it's just that: a meme site, and I didn't want to spend so much on this at this stage.
>>
>>54352151
> Firefox is the premier browser for the free software minded.

I could argue for long about this, but if Firefox did stand up for freedom they'd not include DRM in their browser for HTML video.

Chromium is free software too. Then there's the JavaScript trap.

Of course no software is perfect and standards compliance may take a while, but by the looks of it Firefox is going to implement ::cue pseudo-element support eventually. Hopefully soon.

But that doesn't really give you a good argument why
"::cue is bad".
