Building a PC this May with an i7-6600k skylake gpu and 16g of ram. Waiting till GTX 1080 coming out instead of buying a GTX 980ti right now. Will I be able to use my 4k monitor for basic computer tasks and watching videos when I'm only using onboard graphics?

If you laptop/motherboard has a Display Port then it twill get UHD 30Hz. Not sure about HDMI.

I have the Dell Inspiron laptop with the 4k display. It is equipped with an Intel 5500u i7 Broadwell processor. It can do 4k at 60fps on Windows but the screen flickers horribly on any Linux distribution I've installed on it.
