My mind tells me pictures should be separated from videos. But my heart tells me family photos should be separated from my scat porn collection.

Either is acceptable.
Been doing it this way for 10 years
all files under one directory called backup

I already tried that. My computer lags massively anytime I try to access that folder.

Right click and change folder type to "all elements"

What is Music 2?

Music is sorted by genre with full tags and album art
Music 2 are mostly mixes, like there is a folder with 1000's of single songs from napster/bearshare days and also where I keep backlog of music I haven't listened to yet
