Why is this acceptable? What could microshill need all this information for?

There's an easier way of getting a better level of security: Don't register a Microsoft account to your PC. Now you can setup a different password for your PC versus your online accounts.

Can you not remember 4 other numbers?

It's true! Your Microsoft SafePIN (TM) makes logging onto your computer faster, and reduces your risk of someone watching you enter your real password.

When you sign into a computer for the first time, you will be prompted to enter in your regular Microsoft Online Account SafePassword(TM). Once this has been completed, you can use your SafePIN for subsequent logons, reducing the number of times you need to enter in a long, confusing password.

Why do people have such a fucking problem with remembering passwords?
>>
How the hell would a PIN be safer than a long good password?
>>

your good son pajeet
>>

Because when you install windows 10 it asks for a M$ account by default and people usually sign in with one.
Now whenever you want to log in it asks for your M$ account password to login so if you have a virus your account can become compromised.
The pin comes in because you can use it as a local password only to log into the computer....

or ..you know.... use a local account.

>The inventor of the ATM, John Shepherd-Barron, had at first envisioned a six-digit numeric code, but his wife could only remember four digits, and that has became the most commonly used length in many places

They still do that with four-digit PINs

>>54328456
maybe because you can't copypaste it which makes brute force a lot slower

are you dumb?
>>
>>54328700
Brute forcing a 4-digit PIN takes no time at all
>>
>>54328840
After three unsuccessful attempts, you will be locked out for an hour.
>>
>>54328913
That is why you clone the drive beforehand and reboot the snapshot over and over to bypass the lockout.

Protip. Reset your pin at your bank because mine let me set my pin to 8 digits
