it's the same shit as the k60, except it has a (very) customizable blacklighting and it doesnt come with a gaming hand rest, so i took the k60's one and put it on my k70. also it doesnt come with gaming wasd buttons, but whatever. other than that it's a good buy. how the fuck do people even tolerate typing all day with no mechanical keyboard?

You may be able to get away with dying the grey caps white instead of plasti dip. You wouldn't want to do that to them. You'll lose the legends(which may still happen with white dye) and it'll possibly start to look / feel bad after use.

Mx clears are good. Zealios didnt feel as good as expected, they were nice, just not worth the money. Reds are just awful. Blacks are nice but id gmrather get a gateron. Khails were suprisingly nice with my expectations. I dont like browns. Mx blues liked but id never get them.

Matias are very quiet and feel great sadly they were on a planck only so I couldnt real get a good type on them. What makes me love them over the clears are how quiet they are and they felt just right. You cant go wrong though

its loud, but everything else is great, you cant take off the cable.
keycaps are double shot but ugly font, should be switchable. lighting has many modes, most are for show or gaymer kids but there are subtle ones.

Electrical switches for the most part. The key word here is mechanism. Like in a Cherry switch you press down on a plunger which actuates a mechanism consisting of two metal leaves inside the housing, putting them into physical contact with each other and closing the electrical circuit.
Examples of non-mechanical switches:
Membrane ("microwave oven" buttons) - You squash two conductive membranes directly together.
Rubber dome - You squash a rubber dome with a conductive pad underneath it directly into a conductive sheet.
Topre - You squash a rubber dome over a metal spring and a sensor below it detects the change in capacitance of the spring as it gets compressed.
Hall effect - You push a magnet down towards a sensor that detects the change in field strength.
Buckling springs use either a conductive sheet (model M) or a capacitive sensor (model F) to handle the signal, yet both are still considered mechanical because they involve a spring-and-hammer mechanism to actuate.

It didn't turn out like I wanted it too, and I accidentally dyed the ESC key the wrong color.
What should I do with the caps I haven't dyed yet, and the case?

I also ordered a Japanese set from the IMSTO groupbuy. As IMSTO never really said anything after they announced the groupbuy, people are flipping the fuck out because some of the keysets offered were never even described/given pictures of. Tactiles across the board just kind of suck. Clicky switches are really satisfying to type on, Gateron blues so far have been my favorite. Although, I still think linears are better in every way.

Im not sure how you would be able to salvage them aside from going 100% black with the dye on them all.
Worst case scenario, you find a model m and use its keycaps on it if you don't like the Fujitsu's. (make sure its a model M with the 2 part keycaps, as only the top half of them will work)

I had always used cheap kb+m combos. But recently I got myself a logitech g402 on a sale and the difference in comfort and accuracy was immediately noticeable. Mechs don't really do anything that a regular keyboard won't do, except for NKRO maybe, but I don't see why anyone actually needs full goddamn key roll over.
That being said, they're very nice to use. They feel nice to type on and they offer a very high degree of customizability. If you use your keyboard all day you'll probably enjoy a mech, if you like to tinker with shit you will love them.

It worked fine for two weeks or three weeks (don't remember how long ago I built it) and the firmware somehow fucked itself. Not anything shorting out no wires not connected properly, no dead diodes, some keys and the whole number row just somehow don't work anymore. I didn't even re-upload the firmware since I first got it working.

OS X works fine with every keyboard I've connected to it so far (except for that one steelseries rubber dome piece of shit that died on me within 36 hours of arriving at my doorstep that prompted me to buy my first mech and started all this madness), except for maybe the magicforce I'm trying to fix right now, but I doubt that it's a problem directly related to OS X.
Though a friend of mine reports problems with a quickfire TK that doesn't play nice with OS X (I'm guessing it's due to the NKRO mode that you can only turn on or off on windows). Though another friend used the very same keyboard with his hackintosh and he had no problems with OS X. I'll probably end up taking another look at that piece of shit sometime in the near future.
What gaymen mouse didn't it play nice with? I've had zero problems with the g502 so far, not with the mouse itself nor with the software to configure it.

I grew up with it and I have no incentive to use a different operating system.
Every encounter I've had with windows (I dual booted for some time cuz muh gaymes) was a horrible pain in the ass. I connected a new keyboard and it had to install some driver, I installed steam and sound didn't work on some games, I booted up three days after installing it and all USB devices just didn't work (changing some bios setting which had been on all the time already fixed it). I'll probably get into using windows at least for stuff related to my future education (electrical engineering) that I'll be entering soon since the software available for OS X in that regard is cumbersome, but I don't think I'll switch from OS X to windows as my non-doing-shit-for-school-or-work OS.

Strange, I didn't do anything with my scrolling setting in the system preferences ever and the g502 doesn't have any problems.
Though I mainly use the trackpad for scrolling and most of my mouse stuff, it's really fucking comfy if you combine it with bettertouchtool.
